Title: Question.
Post by: panniertankboy8751 on July 14, 2009, 02:30:55 PM
are On30 locos able to run on HO scale track, or are they so heavy, the tracks can't support them?

I would add that you might have a problem with the old Atlas switch machines.  My 2-8-0 would catch on these when I ran it on a test layout.  Also, you might run into problems if you use a set of risers to elevate the track, where the track is supported only by these plastic risers, usually where the track sections connect, and between the risers the train is supported only by the rails and ties, with nothing beneath.

Other than that, no worries...

I have been relaying old H0 code 100 rail on 0n30 ties and using old Atlas Snap and #4 turnouts relaid as normal and stub switches.  The Atlas motors work just fine mounted upside down under the track.  Limited testing has shown the idea works.
