The EBT's outside braced steel boxcars are pretty nice
cars, and the only US mainland narrow gauge steel cars,
to my knowledge.  The 2 EBT cabooses are pretty nice, too.

Not to mention Mikados (especially No. 12)

Well, if it's in 1:29 scale and runs on
gauge 1 (45 mm) track, it's still going
to be narrow gauge!

Before Kevin and Matthew say it, put me down for an EBT Mikado.
But of course, you already know that, B'mann!

Remember folks,
a Marker is a red (or yellow) light at the rear of a train.
A classification light is a white or green light on the front of a train.
A regularly-scheduled train, with timetable authority does not display
classification lights, but does display markers.

Rich,
I like your New Haven RR quote, but really enjoy the bumper stickers that a friend had made up about 40 years ago..."New Haven Railroad....a Century of Tradition, untouched by Progress"....

Let's hope that the popularity of the K-27 translates an early
production of an East Broad Top Mikado, preferably No. 12.

If you're looking for working (current collecting) trolley poles, check
out the Light Rail Products website.  Lots of fascinating stuff there.

Large / Upon Seeing the new K-27

Folks,

I just got home from staffing the Friends of the East Broad Top Railroad display at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Portland, ME.

The Bach Man and others from Bachmann were there, with many of Bachmann's narrow gauge offerings, including the new K-27.

All I can say is WOW!!!  What a beauty of an engine.  It will blow
all the competition out of the water!  In addition to all the beautiful
and accurate detail of the model, it has FULLY EQUALIZED wheels,
a special Pittman motor, and was truly the classiest locomotive
in the show.

I sure envy the people who model the D&RGW and other Mudhen
lovers, and look forward to the same quality being put forth in
the (hopefully) upcoming Bachmann EBT Mikado and other B'mann
models.   ;)

HO / Decals for SY
August 16, 2007, 12:37:05 PM
Does anyone know of Valley Railroad decals for the Bachmann SY?
As this is the original lettering for the prototype of Bachmann's
model, I'm hoping to find them.  The VRR later sold the engine
to the NYS&W.

Thanks,

As Bachmann hasn't been very successful in keeping up with its
1:20.3 narrow gauge manufacturing and sales, adding yet another
gauge seems to be counterproductive.

I also purchased 4 of those "kits".  Now I just have to get myself in
gear to buy the other hardware necessary.  I think I'll build all 4
at the same time, assembly line fashion.  I'm planning on doing
2 with the horizontally-braced doors and to with the plain doors.
One each will have the "EAST BROAD TOP" lettering, and one each
with the "Acorn" herald.

Right!  Acid into water, not the other way.

A goodly portion of my mainline, like the EBT, is 2.5-2.6%.  I can run
some pretty good trains with this maximum gradient.
