Title: GS-4 Daylight boiler front
Post by: trainmaster971 on August 26, 2010, 03:24:30 PM
I finally dug out my old Bachmann GS-4 Daylight and found the boiler front missing.  I have contacted the parts department and the only thing that the have is the entire body that costs 30 dollars. They did offer to exchange it for 40 dollars.

I prefer to keep the engine for personal reasons and the cost for a new body is a little high for me. Does anyone know where the boiler front can be bought?

Scratch building is always an option...it's not that hard. And about as cheap as it gets!

TM-

Making your own smokebox door shouldn't be too hard or you can buy a detail part for a direct replacement.  Good luck!

Also, try e-bay.  I know I saw a Samhongsa one go not too long ago, and, perhaps, you could find one that would make yours look like a GS-3, with a single headlamp.

Dear TM,
Give service a call. If they have a non-repairable GS-4 they'll be happy to send the smokebox front.
Have fun!
