Title: Alaska Railroad F7 1526, former Rio Grande
Post by: Bas on May 03, 2014, 01:30:36 PM
Hello everybody

Today I started working on my Alaska Railroad F7 # 1526.

I started with an Bachmann Rio Grande F7. I changed the body with 4 small black stripes into 1 larger stripe, added a winterization hatch and F7 plow from Calscale. At this moment I'm cutting away one of the cooling fans, because the ARR only used three. The first one was mostly plated. I also changed the hight of the headlight in the door. This was in my opinion to low and to big. Now it is raised a few mm and integrated in the door. This headlight was a dummy on the bachmann, but now it is fully functionable. A small SMD led provides the needed light here. The upper light will be the marslight, or an extra headlight. Haven't found information about the upper light yet, what it exactly is. An ESU sounddecoder will deliver a perfect EMD 567 Sound. Finally the roof was painted black.

More pictures will come as work continues...

Nice work so far on converting it to an ARR engine. I myself am looking at doing the same thing but converting it to Great Northern.
