HO / Heljan turntable
August 02, 2007, 09:31:54 PM
Does anybody out there have any expeirience with the Heljan turntable?
I'm considering getting one for my layout.
Here's why:

It's an attractive model, and an even better price:
$25

It's long, but not too long. It's 98 scale feet long.

I know it says it's manual, but is it pretty easy to wire?

HO / Bachmann Geep Shell swap?
July 15, 2007, 09:40:14 PM
I recently acquired a few GP7 shells from ebay. Would it be easy for me to buy a couple Bachmann standard GPs , take off the GP shell and install the GP7 shell on the chassis of the Bachmann GP?

I know this would be possible, but I don't know which Bachmann Geep would fit the GP7 shell best as far as length and width go.

Would the GP50 be best? the GP40? the GP38?

HO / Wanted: Walthers Red Wing Milling decals
May 10, 2007, 09:00:34 PM
I recently bought a Walthers Cornerstone Red Wing Milling flour mill kit at my LHS. I assembled the kit, looked at the decals... and 6 days later, when I was ready to decal the building, it turned out the decals had disappeared! :o

Any ideas for me?... I've looked all over for them, I think they might have been accidently thrown away by SOMEONE.   :(

Does anybody have any experience with the plaster/ HydroCal Woodland Scenics tunnel portals and retaining walls? I recently aquired some Timber tunnel portals and reataining walls and would like to paint them. Keep in mind that I'm on a limited budget, and I have the experience of a 12- year - old (which I am), so I don't own an airbrush yet.

Have you ever noticed that some of the Walthers Cornerstone Background buildings are very close to other Cornerstone full-sized kits? In fact, so close sometimes I think they use some of the same tooling to make both kits. What's your opinion on this?

Case in point:

Centennial Mills:

Red Wing Milling:

And another one:

Heritage Furniture factory:
Hardwood funiture:

General Discussion / ungluing glue joint
April 09, 2007, 06:20:27 PM
I recently bought a building off eBay that I had planned to convert into a building flat. It came today, and I found out that it was harder to unglue the joint that the previous owner had glued than I thought it would be. I'm not sure what type of glue this is, but it's waterproof. Any ideas on how to unglue where it had previously been glued?

HO / E-Z track turnout trouble II
April 07, 2007, 09:54:27 AM
Well, it's happened again. This time, TWO of my E-Z track turnouts have stopped working, and a third turnout had its wire unsoldered. I'm pretty sure I can solve the third turnout's problem, even though I don't own a soldering iron. I think I could just take it to a place like RadioShack and they might re-solder it for me. I took apart one of my other two non-working turnouts and discovered  that the little wire thing that connects the clip of the points to the motor of the turnout has gone missing. :o Following me? The other E-Z track turnout has the same problem, and I think it's also missing the wire thingy. Does anybody know if I could send the turnouts to be replaced or if they could mail me a couple of the wire things that connect the points to the motor of the turnout?

Was sand moved in gondolas, covered hopper cars, or regular hopper cars?

I was reading a listing on eBay about a walkaround throttle. It said it could be used for N/ HO scale. I model HO scale. However:( wait for the stupid question )

It says:

The model 851's high impact styrene case measures only 4" X 2" X 1". The inside is packed with circutry. No additional circuit boards need to be installed. Simply wire it to an existing 12VAC to 18VAC power source and to your tracks and you're in business!

Does it output in DC or AC? I have a Bachmann Spectrum Magnum power pack that I'll use for my "power source"

Thanks for reading this,

Paul

How long would you guesstimate this T&P tank car to be? I'd like to model it, but I need to have an estimate of how long it is.

General Discussion / News on my Mopac S12
March 08, 2007, 11:38:40 AM
I've finished re-painting my Athearn SP S12 into the Mopac scheme. I chose to model #9217, but I had to guess on their paint scheme because I haven't come across any photos of Missouri Pacific S12s.

Here's where I got the roadnumber info from:
http://www.thedieselshop.us/BLH_S12.HTML

A pic of my S12 in the Southern Pacific scheme:

I'll post photos of the repainted locomotive when I can. If I find the uploading cable for the camera. :-\

General Discussion / Brill trolley shell removal
March 06, 2007, 09:40:56 PM
Does anybody know how to remove the shell of the brill trolley? I tried a little bit, but I didn't want to mess things up. I need to re-paint the trolley for my own "Emhurst Interurban" line . Any help will be appreciated. ;D

HO / dimensions of DPM modular building pieces
February 14, 2007, 09:51:29 PM
What are the dimensions of the Design Preservation Models modular building pices? I'd like to know because my local hobby shop is having a sale on them and I'll need to go to my LHS anyway to pick up the decals I special-ordered from them. They look like this except with varying designs.:
