Couldn't find #237, but here's the #239, same markings you describe for the #237:

Here's #237, but she doesn't look like my Bachmann and she's a Schnectady not Baldwin. Really confusing!

Your locomotive is equipped with a dual mode decoder so it is not necessary to remove the decoder for analog DC operation. It will run on DC or DCC without any modifications. It runs better on DCC but will run perfectly fine on DC. Hopefully this is helpful. If you are set on removing the DOC decoder, then please let me know and I will provide instructions.
I could use that info but will it solve my issue?

None of this answers my question though. Do you think the DCC decoder is interfering with the Kato sound box? If so, how do I disable the DCC?

My sound box came with a steam card. I bought it on ebay. It came from Japan.

Ok, so I bought the Kato sound box and as my 4-6-0 Baldwin has DCC onboard, I'm wondering if that is why I'm not getting the chuffing sound. The unit is analogue so I'm thinking that's why. Is it possible to disable the DCC? What do y'all advise?

Hi, I have a Bachmann Baldwin 4-6-0 - with DCC. I need to remove the DCC module cuz I run DC. How do I do this?

Thanks, Dan

If you are referring to it having connections on the inside and outside of the curve, both sets go to both rails. It's that way simply so that you can connect to whichever side is convenient.
That would be a direct short.   //

There are two tabs on either side; one tab powers one rail, the other tab, the other rail.  So if you are facing the piece of track from one side, thus :-)  =((=  which tab powers the near rail and which powers the far rail?

On the curved Bachmann re-reaier tracks with the dual power tabs; which tab goes to which rail?   {example:   =((=  }
Can you explain it for me?

Thanks, Dan ???

I managed to break my EZ track switch today. I pulled the short piece of straight rail out to the ties (big oaf  :-[).  My question is; can I glue it back in with just a dab of JB weld?

Cheers, Dan

N / Re: Is my new set faulty?

I am very happy to report  :D that my loco works after all! I had it packaged up to go back to Bachmann but stopped at the hobby store in Green Bay first to purchase a different loco to get me started and the fellow said if you had it here, we could just check this one thing; so I booked out to my car and grabbed the package and we opened it up. He applied power to the trucks and spun the commutator with a small pick and off it went. He said it had probably been sitting a while and the lube grease had gotten stiff.

Cheers, Dan  ;D

Is this something I can tweak myself or does it need to be sent back.
