I think you are right, it seems to be paint.

I'll try the least harshest material first (water and work my way to the acetone). I've had great luck with acetone on pre-painted die-cast aircraft but I haven't tried plastic before. With the die-cast is is a matter of using just a slightly moist Q-Tip, place some acetone on the decal for about 5 seconds and gently rub the decals with a clean dry Q-tip. As soon as the decal wipes off take a really wet piece of paper towel or clean rag and saturate the acetone area to stop it from working any further. Gently wipe the area dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. It only takes 10 seconds or so to remove the decals, wet the area and dry it. I'll let you know how I make out. This tender is quite old so perhaps it won't take much to remove the logo. The old logos, I assume aren't as hard to remove as the new decal material of today.

I'm going to make the 2 units AT&SF but first I have to remove the Canadian National logo from the 16 wheel tender, what is the best stuff to use to remove it without damaging anything else? Nail polish remover with acetone?

I have the 2-10-4 and the tender but the tender has Canadian National logo. To me the easiest thing is remove the CN logo and I ordered some AT&SF decals so I will make it an AT&SF unit. Would like for it to have a been a CN unit but in reality CN never had a 2-10-4, Central Vermont did but they used a Vandy tender.

AT&SF is the only RR that I could find that used the 16 wheel tender. Most others are 12 or 14.

I have tried that and 16-wheel tenders, just about any combination I could think of. I think what I will end up doing is removing the CN logo from the tender and and go with A.T.&SF for both because there are photos of this combo. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks but I have been looking for days and have come to the same conclusion. Now to find what railroads did use the 16 wheeler. I know the Santa Fe did.

you'd see they too have vandy tenders. As i said, I believe Bachman put a stock tender on the thing to save some money. Early Bachmann was not exactly know for being all that accurate.

I saw all this brass before with the Vandy and that just complicated things as well. Now to figure out which roads used this type of tender and see if I can get decals from Microscale to match.

That is one of the photos that has been giving me trouble. I see the model with one tender and the actual with another. Now I don't know what to do with the tender.

Thanks for your help. Now I have a 4-10-2 with the AT&SF removed and a CN 16 wheel tender. Now I have to get another CN 4-8-4 for the tender and a Vandy tender and decals for Central Vermont. I'm trying to stick with CN and/or affiliate lines and CV is the only CN affiliate that used a 2-10-4

edit: It should be noted that all photos of the real CN 6218 i found had it using a vanderbilt tender with two 6 wheeled trucks so it probably was the stock tender (or even stock 4-8-4) with the CN logo on it.

I've had the same problem with photos. I'll keep searching for photos of the Bachmann CN 6218 and hopefully I'll stumble across one. I would agree  that it probably is from an early Bachmann release but you would think on the WWW there would be some information or photos.
