I have not seen a SMR locomotive in person.  Based on the photos they are beautiful pieces. But they are priced from about $1,250 on up.  While that may not qualify as "astronomical" it would give me pause before buying. I suspect there is a larger market for similar engines at, say, one third or one fourth that price.

Well thought out post from Hamish.

If it comes to a vote please put me down as a strong "Yea" for a Richmond 4-4-0!

On30 / Re: Can we have new tank cars in On30?

I suspect you know this but just in case: Bachmann does offer a "Gramps" car in On30 (item 27145) but it is not frameless.

I don't know how feasible it would be to convert one of them.

Congratulations and so good to hear all are well.

We have 9 grandchildren with number 10 due early next year. The wonder is always there when the child arrives.

Please disregard my above post.

I first thought you were implying all that activity took place in one day but now realize you were advising that both those milestones were reached on the same day.

Sorry for the misinterpretation.

I believe those are the totals since the forums inception.

I hope we will get to see pictures after the restoration is complete.

As one with little mechanical aptitude I often marvel at the results of such projects. If I go to an antique/vintage car or motorcycle show I love it when the owners display "before and after" pictures of their vehicles.

Don't know if many here have any interest in Lionel equipment but have seen requests for Bachmann to consider building a "Best Friend of Charleston" set (which I would certainly buy).

Lionel is now offering such a set via online purchase only. You can see it by going to "lionel.com" and then clicking on "shop online"

Just a FYI.

On30 / Might the new reefers be arriving soon?
July 07, 2007, 12:20:55 PM
The subject line pretty much sums it up.

The pulpwood cars kind of came "out of the blue" and wondering if any news is available on the new for 2007 reefers?

Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: The mighty Narrow East

Dusten:

There has been some discussion of this topic on the On30 portion of this site - although the latest post was on June 3rd.

You might want to check that and perhaps add your thoughts there.

Thank you Woody.

Perchance I'll summon the courage to actually try that!

I've never tried to build track or turnouts; can these be fitted to E-Z Track or manufactured track without the roadbed or is it best to hand lay all the track?

There is a picture of the set in the 2007 catalog but no close up of the locomotive; it may at least give you some idea of the coloring and general appearance.
