General Discussion / Power Supply for DCC E-Z Command
February 02, 2012, 03:05:38 AM
Hello Again,
The E-Z Command Controller comes with a wall power supply that has a 16vAC 1000mA (16vA) OUTPUT. This will easily run 3 to 5 engines (depending on engines used). My question is; Can I replace the wall supply with a 16vAC 2000mA OUTPUT to run more engines? Or will this harm the controller?
If that wont work, then is a "Booster" my only option? Also does a Booster give it's output based on an input FROM the original power-pack + E-Z Controller "Package"? Or does it replace the original wall supply??
Perhaps 2 power districts run from 2 E-Z Command units, that operate in tandem??

"The Bachmann" or "Yardmaster" might want to ring-in on this one.

Thanks Always,
Kelly

General Discussion / Railroad's paint names
February 02, 2012, 02:38:56 AM
Hello all,
Here is a fun question; What are some of the "paint scheam" names from different railroads.
I am a BIGTIME Southern Pacific fan, and enjoy the diff names. Some examples are; The Bloody Nose, Black Widow, Pumpkin, and "The Worlds Most Beautiful Train" The Daylight.
These are, of course, all SP. Please share any others, any railroad.

Just For Fun,
Kelly

Hollo All,

I have found a good price on this DCC reverse loop module, but I don't find any ref. to the track! Do I need special, or can std. roadbed track be used?

Thanks,
Kelly

Hello all,

No longer in Bac catalogs..but still available "28163" On30 0-4-0 Gas Locomotive w/DCC, Little River. Will this fit thru my HO Bacmann Turn-table, etc.?
 http://www.modeltrainhobbyist.com/bac28163.html
You may need to "cut & paste" the above link if you want to see one.
Perhaps there is a way for me to tell when On30 works on HO. Any hints? I want to get several On30 units, but I only want to buy what I know will work.

Thank You On30 Times

To All (including Yardmaster and Bach-Man),

Problem is fixxed. Thank you very much to Jim Banner. His idea to isolate "Powered" track inputs with tape solves ALL. I don't need relay patch. Never installed it. I just knew that I could cut power to the bridge while rotating!
The TT is not defective in any way. Just some fine tune at next run. The Lights DO blink on/off/on BECAUSE they engineered it that way, so that shorts occur less!
My promlem was that I had more than 1 powered track comming into the TT. All these powered tracks need isolation from contacting the bridge. (Even if polarized correctly, as they NEED to be.)
I will, of course, not use tape. I will just insert isolating rail joiners to powered tracks. EXCEPT at #4 index, as it NEEDS to get bridge voltage from there. There is NO SHORTS while rotating...Even #4, as they accounted for this in design. (DO NOT isolate #4!)
The only problem remaining is the on/off/on rail power while approaching certain indexes. I sure understand the need, but perhaps this "outage time" can be made VERY short and perhaps not even notice them.

Thank You Again Jim, a real Banner guy!

Hello all,
I have recently aquired the Bachmann motorized turntable, and find that it "shorts out" as the rail rotates to it's own neighboring rail. While rotation continues faultlessly, it has none the less "shorted" long enough to reset my "E-Z Comand Controller" every time.
I have a "relay patch" to cut power to the table's rails. However, I wonder if there is standard fix, or plane to engineer out the problem?
The best fix would be to only allow the "contact fingers" power contact near "index". I quess this got overlooked at some level, but deserves attention, as it is otherwise an extreemly well made product.
Any Thoughts? kpsdjs

General Discussion / New Turntable #46299
June 07, 2011, 11:50:51 PM
I am very interested in this new turntable. It has indexed track at 20 degree intervals. I am having trouble finding a roundhouse shop to fit. Most are indexed at 10 degree.
Anyone out there have any ideas?

P.S. It's HO

Thanks

Do I have to remove the decoder and place "Dummy" pins if I only have DC right now? i.e. No command controller yet!

What is the difference between the SP Daylight 4446 and the SP Daylight "Railfan" 4449?
