I have the Bachmann Digital Commander set and am using the two locos with a layout I built using Atlas Code 83 track.  The GP40 goes over the crossing, but the FT-A hangs up.  The front wheels catch as it enters the crossing.  Both locos have, it appears, the exact same trucks.  The only difference is there's lots of clearance between the wheels and the coupler housing of the GP40 and almost none on the FT-A.

Can I simply not use the FT-A on code 83, or is there something else I can do?

HO / What do you say the EZ Track rerailer/terminal is?
September 08, 2008, 03:43:20 PM
In other words what is that thing doing on your layout?  What do you say it's for?  Is it suppose to be a crossing and therefore should always have a road going up to it?  What color/s do you paint it?

When I go to the "Order Parts" it brings up the storebachmanntrains.com.  I can put orders in my basket and click the "submit order" button.  When I do I get a page that has the top third like this page (with various logos).  The bottom two thirds is a blank blue screen with a Bachmann curlicue.

Anybody else with this problem?

HO / Ballasting EZ Track
August 24, 2008, 12:20:32 PM
I know this has been discussed before--but it's a real bear.  I am trying the following--brush Aileen's Tacky Glue on the slopes and around each of the outside ties.  Lay ballast down the center.  Brush ballast to level in the center.  Hope that the overflow falls where I want it on the slopes and between the outside ties.  Pour more on the slopes.  Tap it around.  Spray with "wet" water.  Dribble WS Scenic Cement down the center with an eyedropper.  Dribble scenic cement on the slopes.  Waste tons of ballast per track with no real way to cleanly recover it.

The biggest problem is the slopes.  Unlike ballasting snap track on a mostly flat bed if you try to sprinkle any decent amount on there is mostly falls off.  Anyway better?  I wishing I had just used snap track with WS foam track bed.

HO / Using feeders with Bachmann Digital Commander
August 20, 2008, 12:11:16 PM
Can someone help me understand how to do this?  I have a 4x8 layout.  I am using EZ Track and the Bachmann DCC Digital Commander.  It has an AC adapter that goes into the controller. The power goes to the track from a miniplug into the controller to a special plug that goes into the EZ track rerailer/terminal.  What is the procedure to add  two or three feeders into the track?

I am a novice, please be specific.

HO / Best way to glue/attach EZ Track to layout
August 16, 2008, 06:08:45 PM
I  am working on a Woodland Scenics layout.  I need to attach EZ Track to the plaster covered styrofoam risers.  I am not having much luck.  I'm trying Liquid Nails for projects.  The problem is that there ain't much surface underneath the EZ Tracks to glue.  I can't see filling up the entire cavity with glue.  Any suggestions?

HO / Reversing problem?
August 09, 2008, 06:31:12 PM
I am working on Woodland Scenics' Grand Valley Pass.  I just finished installing all the risers and inclines and I put the track on it to test drive it.  Every thing's fine except at the 90 degree crossing.  When the engine approaches the 90 (going from left to right into the area inside the inner right loop) the engine stops.  If I push it pass the crossing it works fine.  Also have the same problem when attempting to leave in the straight track inside the loop.

I am using EZ Track NS and DCC.

The plan is on the last page of the following link:

HO / Bachmann builds a layout
March 31, 2008, 06:02:13 PM
I really like the job that Mr Bachmann did on this series.  However, there was also, somewhere, an insanely detailed building of this or Grand Valley in someone elses website page.  Does anyone know where this is?  I can't find it.

But it was OK.  I had to remove the shell and reattach the drive shaft and a couple of other parts had to be put back together.  The only part that broke is the right angle plastic part that goes from the metal body to the coupler.  What is that piece called?  Where can I get a new one?

HO / Will this plan work with EZ track?
January 31, 2008, 07:46:24 PM
Well finally, thanks to Wounded Bear, I can post a link to my RTS file.  I tried to create a layout using Atlas pieces that match EZ Track, but as you can see I have a couple of gaps and mismatched ends.  Can I fudge these?  Or can you suggest other EZ parts or...?

You apparently have to save the file before you can open it.  Don't worry it's been check for viruses, but you might want to check again before opening.

Thanks

I'm trying to upload a RTS file to a posting.  It is under the KB limit.  I keep getting a "Can't access location" message.  Any suggestions?

HO / 1 inch EZ track
January 28, 2008, 06:22:02 PM
I see a EZ Track plan on Thortrains that calls for two 1 inch EZ tracks.  Is there such a thing?  If I need to make one how do I cut through the track and plastic roadbed?

What's the difference between the EZ Track standard turnout and the #5 turnout?

Thanks,

HO / Can't figure out how to wire EZ track switches
January 11, 2008, 09:55:54 PM
I got the First Track Set back with 4 switching tracks.  I can't figure out how they are to be wired to work.  I have the EZ Command controller.  I also have a separate inexpensive DC controller with a 16 volt output.  Surprised that there are no instructions in the box--only on how to hook up EZ track.

HO / Can someone explain track radius to me?
January 09, 2008, 01:55:23 PM
For example, I don't understand why a track is called 22" radius instead of in degrees.

HO / My caboose comes lose!
December 22, 2007, 05:59:29 PM
I just got the Digital Commander set for my 9 year old daughter (and of course me!)  The problem is the caboose keeps unhooking when it runs over the included turnout.  I heard that the Bachman turnouts needs to be filed down--but where?

HO / Bachmann 44596 Hobby Track Pack--good deal?
December 18, 2007, 01:51:32 PM
I just got the Deluxe Commander set and want to get more track and switches.  Is the Hobby Track Pack a good value? Ridgeroad Station has it for $57.75.
