Title: HO Red power wire and electric switchers
Post by: Elnovato on September 02, 2014, 09:48:07 AM
Can I connect the (square end of the) red power wire to a remote electric switcher and the other end to the DCC controller? Would that make the electric switcher work? Is the DCC controller enable to do that or is there a risk of a short? The DCC controller does have a second slot (in addition to the one that connects it with the rerailer to provide power to the tracks).
Thanks.

EL,

If you are talking about powering turnouts with the EZ Command then NO. It is advisable to get a separate dc power pack or an old wal wart used for charging cell phones, toys etc.
I use oone of my spare dc controllers that I have laying around.

That's exactly what I meant, thanks much. Is there a risk of a short?

Here is Bachmann's preferred wiring schematic for the turnouts. May help you.
