 To add to the devilment.

Prior to regauging from 2½ft to 1Meter, the FCAB in Chile swapped trucks   on the meter gauge cars to allow operation on  their lines, from the coast to Boliva. In Peru, saw a few x Canadian National 40ft cars operating
on the 3ft line from Cuszco to Manchu Pichu. Not a big deal to use 3ft
gauge cars for On2½ modelling.

In the mid 1950's, on the Canadian Pacific at least, I recall loaded
gondola cars spotted on an elevated track, behind the sandhouse.
Sand was shoveled into a roofed sand bin, from there it was shoveled
onto the sand stove, dried and blown by compressed air into the
elevated sand bin for both steam & diesel locomotives.

Covered Hoppers would be a single service car, and usually marked
"sand service only" to prevent product contamination of other products.

Not sure how common Billboard reefers were in Canada, do know
that Schlitz billboard reefers made it to Sandon B.C. in 1897.
Delivery for the local Schlitz agent there.

Have 2  4-6-0s and 2  2-10-2s in the backshop awaiting detail parts
for conversion to On2½ ft gauge based on engines in Brazil.
The Rio turbio 2-10-2s are being restored to service 2 at present with
plans for a few more to be rebuilt.
The 4-6-0s  IS frame, once operated on the VFOM which is now a tourist operation, at one time operated 400+ miles of 2½ft.

IRCA engines # 250 & 251, gotta love them, may have to take a serious
look at getting a couple of the 2-6-6-2s, the 4-4-0 is of no interest,  not
  even close to a 2½ft gauge 4-4-0.

On30 / Re: ? Heisler ?

One of the 3 truck Shays, built for the Braden Copper Co (2½ft)
   could be a good seller. BCCo operated 10 2trk (42-2) & 6 3trk Shays
( 60-3). If I were to operate a Hesiler I would go the conversion route
myself. Off  to LHS to measure up the Bachmann 3 trk Shay in HO for
a possible conversion for an 2½ft gauge  3trk Shay.

On30 / Re: The Re-tooled On30 Bachmann Boxcar
February 08, 2007, 11:06:30 AM

Dug out a boxcar for a quick conversion project (I had hoped) to lengthen
to make a couple of MEXICANO 2½ gauge boxcars, width is right on, however body side height is about 1½ scale feet short, back to scratchbuilding a couple of cars.
Do like the seperate ladders though. Will likly pickup a few more Boxcars,
a bit of fitting & filing fills in the end doors.

Still looking for OorS scale Ferrocarril MEXICANO decals.
