HO / Changing DCC back to DC
December 22, 2011, 09:16:55 PM
I have the 5003 & 5008 Bachmann CP engines. I set them to DCC with their corresponding engine numbers -- now I want to switch them back to just DC.
Please help me to do this. I am using MRC Prodigy Advanced Squared

HO / Re: Help in Upgrading my GP35 to sound
December 12, 2009, 04:16:42 PM
Instead of upgrading my engine to sound, I bought an EMD F9B locomotive with sound unit and plan to consist it with my GP 35 engine.
Intermountain  49590S unit- works great and has a QSI sound card !!
I found out that my Bachmann engine has a Lenz decoder .

HO / Decoder type in my Bachmann EMD GP 35

I want to consist this engine with  an Intermoutain Emd F9B # 4959S loco with a QSI sound .
Both units have different speed ratios-- would welcome suggestions on how to consist both of them together so that I do not overtax one engine over the other

General Discussion / Deprogramming Bachmann EMD GP 35
October 18, 2009, 12:18:05 PM
I programmed my GP 35 Diesel using my MRC Express to run on my DCC layout.
How do I deprogram the engine to run on my DC HO layout?

I did email Frank at MRC and he suggested the following:
>>according to the info you sent the bachman loco already has a [power] decoder installed. you can use either 0001662 diesel sound only decoder or the 0001666 diesel sound only decoder
either of these will piggy back onto your existing decoder...only two wire hook up<<
Has anyone done this upgrade and if so, please evaluate installation and sound.

The other product I found was the motion/light replacement for the original engine's decoder == but I think that there is no sound in the NCE decoder.
again feedback to the question would be appreciated

I located the article from the RRMC mag from the local library on decoder installation - excellent pics and walkthru.

What DCC and Sound card will fit into this model ? or can I just keep the original DCC and add sound by using another card?
I also have the 5009 and 6550 models as well.

I am using MRC express and want to deprogram the DCC and run my Bachmann engine on DC .
What code do I enter in my MRC cab running my engine to switch from DCC to DC.
I plan to use a three way toggle switch to alternate from DC to DCC in my rail yard.

HO / Sound decoder for GP 35
March 14, 2009, 12:37:19 AM
I have the Bachman CP Diesel 5006 DCC engine. Can I add a sound decoder to this unit? If so, what make and model? If not, do I have to replace the DCC unit with a completely different unit ??
Would the same advice apply to my other diesels 5003; 8205,8210??
