OK it is an excursion tender. It is an 800 series. But the golden question is can it be found in HO scale?

Any help would be appreciated.

The challenger, as she runs today, has 2 yellow tenders (oil/water) that follow behind the main tender. What are the names of these yellow tenders? And can they be found in HO scale?

Thanks

Sure can. I have 2 MRC reversing loop modules. I have found that when I have my 5 amp power booster hooked up to the power feeds the 5 amp power booster will recognize the short before the MRC reversing loop module has a chance to switch. This is not the case with the 1 amp power supply that comes with the Bachmann E-Z Command system. The MRC modules work just fine. There are some power boosters that have an adjustment center on the board that will allow you to adjust the speed at which the booster will recognize/ react to the short.

Further, do I just pack up my "Bachmann reversing loop module" back to Bachmann for service? It is not working which is why I went with the cheaper route with the MRC modules.

Thanks

I have a 5 amp Bachmann power booster. Is this module rated for 5 amps? I see the switch is for N, HO and G. on the module. But can I use the module with the 5 amp power booster? Did the 5 amp power booster cause the problem ( damage) to my reversing loop module?

Is there a way to change the speed at witch the 5 amp power booster sees the short when a train is going throught the reversing loop?

HO / Re: Reversing loop problem...

OK I by passed my 5 amp power supply, and "viola" my reversing loops are now fully functional. So I guess that the 5 amp power supply is seeing the short before the MRC reversing loop modules can make the switch. Amy way you were right. I can now at least run my trains. But if I have all of my engines going ( and they all have sound), I may not have the power to run them. I guess it may be time to get a better DCC system.

Thanks for the input.

HO / Reversing loop problem...
March 14, 2008, 04:08:47 PM
My Bachmann reversing loop module went bad. So I went out and bought MRC's reversing loop module. But my trains are stalling coming out of the loop. I have a Bachmann EZ command with a Bachmann 5 amp power supply. I have heard that these MRC modules cannot handle the power, or work fast enough for the engines I am using (Callenger 4-6-6-4 sound, F3 A-B-A consist with sound). Should I just go back to using the Bachmann reversing loop module?

Any input would be very helpful.

My reversing loop module (Bachmann) seems to have quit working. Can I send it in for repair? Do I just rap it up and send it off?

I don't think that 22' radius is too tight for your loco. I have had cerailment problems with the truck on the front of my N&W 4-8-4 going into and coming out of a curve on an 18 radius. It is fine on a 22'. But i have had other Bachmann engines of the same configuration run just fine on all of my track.

The best part is that you were able to take yours back. Mine was a gift. There need to be more of a conserted effort by some of the companies to give info on the box for people looking to by these engines so they will know if it supposed to go around the track or not.

Personally, I think some of these trucks have some problems.

General Discussion / Re: reversing loop question...

Well I actually have had no problems with the reversing module, but I was told that i could use one module for all of my reversing loops. But i think you are right, it would be better to have one for each loop which in the future, when I have a more permenant situation I will not go the cheap route.

I think that the module may be going bad from over use.

General Discussion / reversing loop question...
January 30, 2008, 12:43:07 AM
Guys I have an odd situation with my layout. I have a Bachmann reversing loop mudule.

My engines go into the loop, but will stall coming out of the loop.

It seems like a short, but the short indicator does not light up. However, the wires going into the module get very hot.

Further, just to let you know, I have 3 reversing loops that are wired into the one module.

But I am very careful not to have 2 trains going into the loop at the same time.

I do here the module "clicking," and sometimes I here it several times during a pass.

I guess it is possible that the module is going bad.

Anything?

HO / Question for the spectrum 2-8-0
January 23, 2008, 03:27:09 PM
I found  a decoder with sound for my Spectrum, It is an MRC it will plug right in, and it will have all of the features. There should not be any problem right? I know that Bachmann uses "Tsunami" sound decoders. But the MRC is only $50. Unless there is a problem, I am going with the MRC. Thoughts?

I have noticed the same problem. If you find a solution I hope that you will post it here.

It makes me sad when a person asks a question that he could answer himself by following a couple of hints.  He's given the hotlink to the Atlas website, so there is all the Atlas track to look at and then asks for a good answer.  I can't think of a better answer than what was just given.   In addition the question was asked in a very general nature on the wrong board, since he's interested in HO, not all scales.
Think before you post.  What do you want to say?  What do you want to ask?  How realistic is the material?

Rain Trains you go right ahead and post any questions you want. Not all of us are master model builders, and I am at a loss to this kind of response from someone. trains are supposed to be inclusive and fun. This just makes us look bad.

So, that having been said. There are many different types of curved track that is sectional. Different companies make different radius track. Some are really small like 15r, but I have seen sectional up to 36r. It really comes down to how much are you willing to pay. I have to say that I have still been able to get PECO switches in code100, but they are expensive. Atlas has sectional track that does go up to 22r. Further, they are very cheap. Also, flex trak can be shaped to any desired radius or shape, but be sure to read through some of the "how to" on how to work with it properly. It is not hard, but it does take a few tricks to get it right.

Just google some of your questions and post here. There are a lot of people on these boards with a lot of experience and talent. I can't tell you how much this site has helped me.

Good Luck

HO / Re: MTH Triplex Question
January 14, 2008, 02:44:01 PM
Yes the smoke wouls be a great thing, but the smell is really bad. My set is in a closed room and I am pretty sure I would die after a while.

The triplex would be a great adition to a layout as long as you are not trying to stick accurately to a specific period as I think that they only used the tri-plex for a few months.

I saw the Tri-plex at the train show this weekend. I have to say that I really think it is one of the more impressive models I have seen in the price range. Further, it seemed to be performing very well. That having been said, it was running on a flat surface. I have read on this board that there may be a problem with the engines drive wheels coming up off of the tracks on a grade. So I would wait and see if this probelem persists and can be remedied by the company. Still, it is really a great looking, unusual engine.
