So from what I have read above it appears that getting current to the EOT device or any car required electric accessory could be a problem - and erratic is the norm.   Stay with battery - problem here is the trouble of taking out the battery for the none use period.

No real positive system?

Found it in the 2008 catalogue pg 951 - thanks for the info.

Now the question does it light up when car in on the track and the current is on?  at 1.95 that is a good deal if it does and by the description it appears to [ EOT device w/red bulb 1.95]

2- Has anyone have EOT device and does it light up with current on?

Thanks Guilford Guy for your help again.

Thanks in advance anyone; concerning 2nd question.

HO / End of Train signal

Does anyone know of an 'End of Train Signal' that works off of DCC.  I am using the Commander system - simple test tack with three turn outs, one being spur, three different engines and head lights, but not sound as of yet - all work fine

At present have an ENT that works with AA battery but was wondering if some company has one that uses track current?

Thanks - in advance.

Have the Switches - they are great IMHO...  They work off of the controller = using button 9 and you can control up to 8 switches.  Good instructions come with the switches.

Good idea Sheldon, for simplicity  "dummy locos simply pulled by the train to simulate the mid train or rear end helpers".

How often does one find two different locomotives that run at the same speed on one DC controller?  Just asking for my own basic knowledge?

It can be heard in the next room.  And is slow in operation.  Nothing a little oil and and time on the track will not fix.

TomKat,  An old friend just gave me an SO40-2 that had been sitting around in a closet for 20 some years.  Talk about "but growls really hard on start or on very slow operation" as yours did.   This one sure does - suspect some light oil and running it for a while will help.

" I'm not knocking the DCC turnouts but I don't need them, I can reach the Caboose Ind manual throws or add a couple of leads for a remote switch.  I admit to being intrigued at first, but decided against them."

My first post, I had mentioned how I enjoyed the DCC turnouts and you being only one who replied; that you would considered them

Crazy how each one of us likes or dislike different systems but then that is being human.

As for the DCC turnouts - that is what make the DCC work so well for me.  I helped my Dad set up a HO system back in 1949 where we ran wire from solenoids  to toggles switches.  So when I discovered DCC did this with no wires, I dove in again after almost 60 years.  Glad I Did.  Having Fun

Just my dollars worth.

My instructions sheet says eight {8}. button nine is used to program the other eight.

At first, the 3 keep me jumping as the locomotive is a coming and the switch needs to be thrown.  The more one works with the switches  the more intuitive it becomes.

HO / HO Scale - Decoder-Equipped Turnouts
February 13, 2008, 01:01:28 AM
I just installed 3 of these turnouts.

Back in the late 40's installing solenoids with my Dad, was the high point for my little H O set up but now:

Nothing beats the control and ease of these Decoder-Equipped Turnouts.  I can just sit here and wonder and appreciate the advancement of technology.

Yes - I just got, less then a month ago, a Digital Commander Deluxe Set.  Now I having the most enjoyable time.

I am also new to DCC - But what you have written appears to be correct.  I think you have to use the companion attached to the main controller to work the switches.

I also need to know for sure because I want to add switches that can be controlled with out wires.

Thanks,
