Bachman main track layout and i can switch to MTH engines.

Is there anyway to have more then 8 DCC turnouts on a single layout?  Or to ask the question another way - I have 12 Bachmann Dcc turnouts and would like to control these last 4 with different packets of digital information.

What company make a DCC system that can handle more then 8 Bachmann  switches /turnouts?  As I want to use the track to handle the DCC and not need extra wire to each turnout.

Can one have more then 8 DCC switches?  What If one were to use a separate power pack. Plug one in for running the engine and first eight switches then  switch power packs {unplug original and plug in extra power pack for switches 9 and above?

Thanks for ALL your replies - I am do believe it is the decoder in the MTH engine. Now at times the horn,bell,lights work then the only response is forward and reverse work but not horn,bell,lights.  I may have dropped it because the back couple is broken or grandson or someone. Have not tried to use this engine for three or four years so events concerning engine have been lost from time past.  I can see a new engine in the near future though.

Roger T - When I get to this step"Choose a new address for your locomotive and press the corresponding button. The locomotive will move slightly (figure 10) and the power LED will flash slowly to indicate that you have successfully programmed your locomotive to its new address. Finally, press the "Stop" button to exit programming mode."

My engine does not move slightly but the power led does flash slowly.   The Engine still only respond to #3  - not #4 like I followed in instruction.  Do you know if MTH engines can be given a new # for the decoder?

How do you change the decoder in a MTH engine to another engine # {like #4} from factory set #3?  I have a freight yard with E-Z Command track and turntable.  I can change several of my engines to #'s 1,2,5,6,7 but I have two MTH engines and they both want #3 -thus problem.  Maybe the question needs to be= can a MTH Proto 3 engine decoder be set to a different # with The E-Z Command system?

What is the purpose of the steel plate on top of the magnet?   Cause, I think I misplace one but the magnet appears to uncouple with out a problem in my only test.

So what do you have planned?

  - I am looking for a two rail O scale Thomas - Is there such? 

My friend said taking a three rail Thomas and 'making it a two rail is really a lot of work and not worth the trouble.  Just paint a shell to look like Thomas'.

This is not my cup of tea....

I think this is a good set as it is DCC - and you get two engines that you can run at the same time

easy introduction to DCC - great starter set.

   I have grandchildren that enjoy the visit and my 14 year old takes over and runs three 2 DCC and one DC.  She enjoys keeping them all going at the same time.
