Large / Re: Large scale rail truck front truck
May 29, 2008, 03:55:37 PM
I have just checked my LS Rail Truck, and there is no screw holding the front truck in place, you just push it onto a knob, which it pivots on!

Check yours and you will see what I mean, very simple design feature.

I am running seven Annie/Big Haulers locomotives, and unlike the above repondents have no problems with the front truck constantly derailing, I have fine tuned my track over time to eliminate such happenings.  I believe that track is more likely the answer than faulty locomotives!

Large / Re: K27 counterweights for Australia
April 10, 2008, 05:59:05 PM
K-27's are selling in Brisbane for $A1295.00 and in Sydney for $A1049.00, big difference in prices, no discounting in Australia it seems.

Large / Re: coupling problem
March 01, 2008, 02:53:03 PM
The only coupler which will retrofit all other manufacturers products, Aristocraft, USA Trains, LGB US cars etc is the Bachmann Knuckle Coupler, it is a straight exchange fit, I have over 60 items of rolling strock, all fitted with Bachmnann Knuckle Couplers, very rare to have an unwanted uncoupling in traffic.  And I must mention, economy, they are the cheapest coupler to purchase.

David, I have trouble sending photos to the site, so have sent some by e-mail to your address, showing my Carrier for my Connie, just make one bigger for your K27.

Thanks, Kevin, I damaged the four wire lead from loco to tender, have got a new lead set, but have mislaid my diagrams for this loco, will need to disasemble the boiler and cab to attach there four wires to their positions.

Many thanks, Danny Sheehan in Oz. ???

Large / Diagram for Bachmann 4-4-0.
January 19, 2008, 11:31:46 PM
I need to see a diagram of the 4-4-0 Spectrum locomotive, I need to take the boiler and cab off.  If any one out there could e-mail me this diagram, I would be forever grateful.

Large / Re: I'm New to Model Trains
January 16, 2008, 03:16:54 PM
Actually 1:24 scale really represents a gauge of 3 foot 6 inch as used in South Africa and parts of Australia.  Many New Zealand modellers use this scale for their local modelling.

Large / Re: Minimum Radius
December 03, 2007, 02:58:24 PM
I agree with the previous posters, my Connie will run on my branch line which has 4 ft radius (8 ft diameter) curves, but my main line is 8 ft radius (16 ft diameter) curves, looks much better.  So certainly make your curves as large as possible, to accomodate future locomotive purchases. ::)

Scot, as I cannot post photos, I have e-mailed you direct with photos of my Heritage 2-6-2 locomotive.
Obviously the Heritage, Buddy L and Keystone locos are all from the same molds, but with different electrical pick up arrangements.
If you would like to, please post my photos here, for comparision purposes. :)

The Heritage 2-6-2 obviously came from the same molds, but the Heritage is a
lot better locomotive, picks us on more wheels including the tender, and has an "interesting" sound system, scales out at about 1:20 I would think.
Unique wheel arrangement, no one else makes a Prairie 2-6-2 to date. ::)

Large / Re: Reversing Trolley
October 14, 2007, 03:51:02 PM
I use thr Aristocraft Reversing unit on my outdoor railway, for a Trolley Line, running Bachmann & LGB Trolleys.  Works great, you can adjust the terminus standing time from 5 seconds up to five minutes.

I have fitted a Sierra Sound System in my Eureka 4-4-0, great sound, the locomotive comes alive, I have also fitted Sierra Systems in my Shay, Climax and Consolidation.  Highly reccomended. ::)

Large / Re: new Baby Shay / bad photo in TW ad

IF Bachmann were to produce a small T Boiler Shay, I would think it would be a great seller, tremendous potential, for a feeder line bringing timber into a mainline interchange etc.  You never know, down the track we could see such a machine, as they do have the plans, just needs upsizing to F. :o

My Connie runs perfectly on 4 foot radius (8 foot diameter curves), I do not have any tighter curves, but 4 foot is probably the minimum required.
