I dont have any pictures handy but I have the same set and wanted a flatcar for it so I ended up getting one of the D&RGW gondola's and just cutting the ends and sides off  :D

Same here I put of changing the pilots for a couple weeks after I got the new one then when I was trying I couldnt figure out what it was getting hung up on (number plate) and the diagram from the manual didnt seem to help much. oh well lol I figured it out in the end and 464 sure does look nice with the road pilot!

Just keep an eye on the lower part of the door on the front of the boiler, you know how the door is split in half so you can still open it to access the switches with the plow mounted? Well the lower part is just set in there and can fall out when the door is open atleast thats how mine is. Its really no big deal just make sure its there when you open/close the door  ;)

there are a couple screws on the botom and those two metal supports on top top that just pop right off then you need to remove the front number plate im not sure if mine was glued it seemed to come off easy enough.

anyway once that stuff is all off it should come right off

I got mine from Ridge Road Station a couple days ago, got a road pilot & doghouse for my 464. I put the pilot on yesterday, it was a little tricky the diagram in the instructions didnt help much.

Anyone installing or removing a plow removing the front number plate helps because the plow gets cought on it.

Large / Re: 10 wheeler question for TOC or JD
September 26, 2008, 11:24:41 PM
It is pretty easy i did it the other way around, I had an Annie that I had just started detailing when the motor crapped out so I used the lower half of a big hauler to bring it back to life  :P

I would love a RGS 20 Annie, It would need a wood cab and the other valve gear though  :P I have a RGS 25 Annie that i run with the red D&RG combine & "Rico" parlor car from the Gold Rush big hauler set that I relettered as RGS with decals from Microscale with a RGS caboose from MDC taking up the rear

Just take the WP&Y set and give that annie a wood cab, renumber it 20 and reletter the set RGS giving the coaches black roof's and number them... Say 260 and B-20 "Edna"  ;D

Same goes for making a D&RGW Annie that isnt a bumblebee! Here is an example!

Back to car numbers, it kinda sucks out of the 4 D&RGW J&S coaches only the combine has a number! Im not the best with decals so I picked up a D&S Passenger set (also for a spare 177)  and swapped the roofs with the numbered coaches with two of my D&RGW coaches that had no numbers so now I have D&RGW "North Star" and "Alamosa" to go with the 202 combine. Now I just need to add a few windows to one of those baggage cars to turn it into a RPO and ill be set hehe  ;D

from what I understand 8' is the minum it can do, I use LGB R3 curve tracks without any problems  ;)

Also like others have said the K27's are 1:20, IMO it looks okay with 1:22 LGB & Bachmann Big Hauler rollingstock but 1:24 car's look a little small next to it  :-\

Large / Re: Bobber Caboose Interior Detail
August 18, 2008, 05:35:14 PM
I painted the Interior of my D&S bobber caboose Interior Green, its a military aircraft color but it looks okay mainly picked it because I already had a jar of the paint lol. I also added cupola seats a stove and a bench seat.

Thing is though I also added windows so the interior is hardly visable unless you pick the car up and look through it with a flashlight shining in from the other side.  :-[

Marker lights & side window's are from an Aristocraft bobber caboose, cupola windows came from cutting up a CD case. All the Interior parts came from one of the EBT style Bachmann 4 axel cabeese

August 14, 2008, 05:09:14 AM
I just checked mine that i got back in May, 3 out of 4 counterweights on either side have alot of movement

The third one back i think it was didnt move at all but the rest seemed veeeery loose and hardly felt like anything was connecting them to eachother  :o

Where do you get the new counterweights from?  ???
