Jonathan,

The problem with this loco occurs on both side of my layout.  Each side has an older Digitrax sensor board (BDL16).  Loco is causing spuratic sensor reorts in unoccupied tracks.  I've been told the problem is probably a capacitor on the circuit board controlling DCC.   I'll have to replace with a better board next, maybe a Tsunami 2 decoder.

All,

Got a new Bachmann Lt Pacific loco that has Sound Value loaded and I noticed while running around the track it was cause supporatic occupancy sensors to go off around on tracks hooked to same BDL16 board.  I have other locos that go through that area with no problems.

Any idea what going on?   Will be beefing up the track power wires going to the BDL16 but this should not have happened.

HO / 2 pin plug source for Spectrum HO K4 steam loco
February 22, 2021, 06:17:22 PM
All,

Ordered a 2 pin plug with cable from Bachmann for my HO K4 loco tender.  The wires were pulled out when loco dropped to floor.

The plug is too small.  Can not even pull pins out to swap with original plug because they are smaller than original pins.  Mine is brown and replacement plug is white.

Wasted $11.  Anyone got a replacement suggestion?

HO / Re: Heavy Mountain Pilot trauck derails alot

For a follow up.  I've added a lead weight just under the pilot truck.  Just enough clearance to go over frogs.  Seems to have helped alot.

Front driver still wanting to climb over rail at some curves.  Wished they had made the rails a little taller.  Will try to do some track work at the bad spots and see if I can even out the track.  I noticed the plastic rail joiners giving me grief.  Need to pull out the ties and file them down where the plastic rail joiners are causing the rails to lift up.

Thank you Johnathan,

My track is HO 100 code with 24" radius.  I'm working on hammering out a lead weight to fit under the pilot wheels now.  If I can get the loco to transverse the layout with out them derailing, then i'll probably order a new driver wheel chassis to replace the suspect front drivers.

Oh, on a side note about my Mountiain I replace the tender with a much bigger Bachamann tender to get a larger speaker in it.  I think I went from 28mm to 32mm.  There was big difference in sound.

HO / Heavy Mountain Pilot trauck derails alot

All,

Finished some trrack work on a new level and ran my Mountain around to test work.  I see that the front boogie is constantly derailing.  Shouldn't there be a spring forcing it down for pressure?

Also the front tire is derailing a lot.  Was having issues with the loco before on bottom level in a few spots.  I've got a few more locos and they dont have issues.   Got this Mountain off of Ebay a few years ago.  Maybe  seller knew he had a lemon and sold it.  Loco came in a Spectrum black box.

It's a DCC model.   Has a Tsunami decoder right now.  Dropped off upper level while running around.  Had just finished putting in track work and was checking for problems.  Was too far away when I noticed it falling.  Have not checked to see if it still runs.

HO / Interchanging 4-6-2 loco shells

All,

I've got a damaged loco 4-6-2 K4 (PPR 3750) and I am wondering if I can use a light pacific B&O shell.  I have a spare B&O tender to swap out the Penneslyvania tender.

    Is this possible?

HO / Fairbanks Morse Wheel contact H635X MT002
September 10, 2018, 01:31:10 PM
Hi all,

I've got an old split frame Fairbanks Morse Loco #928 that has one contact on a truck broken off so one side only has 3 wheels making contact with the rails.   Need a replacement.

I'm assuming that this part number is OK to use, but seems to be out of stock.  H635X MT002.  Any other parts available for this loco?

How hard is it to pull the flywheel and pulley gear off?

I see that the motor for the heavy Mountain loco is sold out.  How often do these get restocked?

Jonathan,

Thanks for the reply.

This Mountain is pulling a heavier tender as I switched out its original one with a ten wheeler one.  This to get a bigger speaker in it.

Had similar issues with a 2-8-0 loco until I noticed I had added extra wheel pickoffs on the tender wheels.  Since the decoder I had installed (TCS) had a keep alive I didnt need it anymore and took off the extra hardware.  Loco ran and sounder better after that.

Just wondering if these motors go bad after several years.

HO / BEMF problems with Mountain 4-8-2
July 10, 2018, 02:08:10 PM
Gentlemen,

I have a Spectrum Mountain loco #727 which i have run well last few years.  I've put in a TCS WOW decoder and I'm having issues with this loco while trying to set CVs for low and high BEMF.  Chuff only goes quiet while at the 20mph mark.

Are there brushes in the motor that wear out and do we have replacement motors for this loco?

HO / 2-8-0 small screw on side rod
April 17, 2015, 11:05:36 AM
Anyone know where I can get that really small screw that goes into the drive wheel and attaches the valve gear rod to it?  It's brass so my magnet wont pick it up.  Came off loco while running around layout.  Too many tunnels and hidden areas to find it.  I cant order the drive wheels with side rods (H11408-2) as it is sold out.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.
