Post by: Matt Bumgarner on January 31, 2008, 11:06:07 AM
Can anyone advise me of the scale length (or real of the prototype) of Mt. Blue #556-558?

Thanks!

Matt

the book "Two feet between the Rails" says they were 24' 2" long
"over sills"
Mount Blue says the models are built to scale, so thats 6.04" long.

prototype length - 24 feet 2 inches.
prototype width - 6 feet 2.75 inches.
all built by the Maine Central in 1913.

556 survives in Phillips.
557 survives in Portland.
558 has been scrapped.

Matt

Why not just contact Mount Blue models directly?
I'm sure they will give you the EXACT information.

Miles-

Because I was here! And I wanted to see how friendly and knowledgeable folks were.

Both tests passed with flying colors!

Thanks,

Matt
