Title: decoder
Post by: hickstmj on August 07, 2008, 10:29:04 AM
Can someone explain how to install a decoder in my BACHMANN SPECTRUM HO STANDARD GAUGE 80-TON 3-TRUCK SHAY that is DCC Ready? I plan on using a TCS decoder.

Thank you for any help.

Best of luck.....hope your chosen decoder is a small one....there isn't much room in the tender.

Thank you Sid.  I plan to get the decoder/harness that TCS recommends.  I have never taken an engine apart so I hope I don't tear anything up.

Sorry, I couldn't find any diagrams on a 80-ton shay, only up to 70-tons. I thought it would help you not to tear anything up.

Hickstmj,
I have the diagrams of this unit.  I can scan them and email them if you could send your addy to me.
