I purchased a Large scale 3 truck Shay before the added the Tsunami sound. I want to add sound. A dealer said this was impossible because Bachmann does not sell the components to upgrade this loco.
Has anyone else had this idea and similar experience?
Can anyone help, or, at least comment on the subject?
Thanks,
Chuck Prough
Hi
You might want to read the quasinami thread.

I installed a Sierra board.

Chuck,
Your dealer is mistaken ... at least for what I think you meant to ask him. While the decoder/sound unit that comes installed in some of the new three truck shays is not available seperately, there are quite a few sound systems that will work quite nicely in your Shay. You might try those made by Soundtraxx (http://www.soundtraxx.com/products/sierra/sound.htm ) or Phoenix (www.phoenixsound.com ) among others. If you find one you like, it's a relatively simple matter to have it installed, or many people find they can install them on their own.
Both pages have samples to listen to.

Yes if on DCC I fully recommend the Soundtraxx DSX!.. And if I can fit one into my Climax the shay should be easier!
