Update. After 6 days of trying it finally worked today!  I  didnt do anything different. The sound function just started!  Why it didnt for 5 days is a mystery. Will update tomorrow
Update 2/19. It still works, but spotty at times. The loco suddenly becomes "unavailable. ". I have to close out the app and turn off track power and wait a min. Then it works again. But when I leave and come back it starts out ok but suddenly becomes unavailable again. Odd, but at least I now how to reset

Since nobody at Bachmann replied, I guess ez app sound doesnt work if you have bluetooth 5.

I bought a Alco RS3 today to give the EZ App a try. I downloaded the app on my Iphone X . I put  the loco on the tracks and it said on my phone updating firmwear. I then paired the loco with the app and it runs great. Only problem is I cant get the sounds going!  I tried increasing it on the app and on the phone itself but nothing. What am I doing wrong?  Thanks

Update- I was able to use the app on my ipad and it ran/made sound in both DCC and Dc. Now to get it to sound on mt iphone xs
My ipad has bluetooth 4. My iphone newer bluetooth 5. Is that a problem?

I will look for metal wheels with plastic axles. That should stop the shorts

I checked for an insulated hub but my cars have an insulated bushing where the wheel meets the axle. I places an ohm meter on the wheels on the same axle and the platic bushing isn isolating the wheels from each other. It is intermittent, but enough at times to short. Maybe I should replace the factory wheels with plastic on non conductive axles? 

I have a MRC Prodigy Express2 system and it detects the short as soon as the car is placed on the tracks. Anywhere. Only with this one car. I did this by clearing the layout an checking them individually.

I have a set of 5 Bachmann heavyweight HO passenger cars.  One of them is causing shorts on my layout. Is there a known fix for this?

I reviewed the photos but am confused, it says to remove the 3 yellow capacitors from the motor put photo shows them remaining in place. Also why is the circuit board replaced?  Even though it is not connected?

I have a GE 70 ton switcher DCC on board that quit running. The lights work from front to back and I tried re-setting to factory setting and address 03 is now input as the lights work with this input value.  But it won't move at all.  Can I buy a replacement DCC board?  is there a better/upgraded one avail?

Update_ I got it to run on a DC track and ran it 10 min forward and 10 in reverse.  Then I tied it in DCC mode again; it made some noise but ran. Let it go for about 10 in each direction and now running smoothly.
Odd - because wheels and track were clean.

Update - quit running after 15 min pullin a couple of cars. May need a new decoder
