Williams by Bachmann / Re: WBB GP9 Problem
September 11, 2010, 11:15:26 PM
I have ,apparently,a rather odd situation.I have 6 Lionel [post war,modern,conventional,TMCC],8 Williams,2 K-Line,1 K-Lionel,1 Atlas and1 RMT locos.
All of them ran the first time they were put on the track.None have needed any repairs.I do not have any MTH so I have no comments about them. They do not seem to be popular in my area.I have not even seen an MTH loco.None of my locos cost over $300.00.I do have a layout.

My first Williams loco frustrated me quite a bit when I first got it.It would go about two inches and stop.It was not the loco.It was a transformer that was not strong enough for the loco.Changing the transformer solved this.Only problem I have had with locos. That does not count ones caused by me.

Now I am interested in this car.

I do not use credit cards on line and want to pay by check but have not been able to find an enrollment form on line.

Help please.

Tiffany,

Concerning the lack of a front coupler on Williams steam locos - - - - these are copies, almost exact,of Lionel post-war locos and Lionel did not put couplers on the front of any steam locos at that time except switchers.

Your loco should have the true blast whistle and bell.

I was very happy with the old Williams club that allowed selection of a car from their catalog.

I have little interest in fantasy named rolling stock.

If actual railroad names were used on the club cars I might consider joining the club again.

IMHO,K-Line made many locos and other equipment that deserve to be continued in production.

I personally have no interest in the Super Streets stuff.

Although I realize that all manufacturers/importers need to and should make a profit from the sale of their products,it seems that every time a company/line changes hands the prices go up.

Lee,

Lionel locos with TMCC have a battery installation but it is for sound purposes when not running TMCC.

I also think that you did not understand the point in my above post.

I realize that this is a Bachmann forum and I also like Williams products by anybody.

I have locos made by Williams,Lionel,K-Line,K-Lionel,RMT and Atlas. No MTH.

Now I only have 19 locos but I have had the strangest thing happen, according to many forum posters.Every one of my locos, even the ones with TMCC,worked when I got them out of their boxes and put them on the track.Every one of them. This has been happening for five years now. What am I doing wrong?

None of my locos cost over $300.00.

Yes this is tongue - in - cheek. But I do wonder.

You do not need pictures to not hear the extra noise.

The wheels on the rails is just great.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Wish list for 2010

First I want to say that I have not read all of the preceding posts.

I do a lot of wishful thinking also.IMHO one of the major draws of Williams trains was the simplicity, the nearness to older Lionel products and the cost.It seems to me that many of the suggestions would add greatly to the cost.I do not like the whistle/horn un-variable pattern either but will accept it if the cost stays low.

New paint schemes on existing locos and equipment should be reasonable however.

Maybe a poll of some kind developed from the many suggestions in the previous posts would be of interest to BBW.

Another thing left out on some diesel sets is a second powered unit, like an example is the F7 AA set of diesels. Would it be possible to offer a set of two powered A units or a set of powered A & B units?
It looks nice to have two or three engines at the front of a train, but you can't pull many cars when only one engine has power. I had to buy a power upgrade kit to add power to an F-7 set of Santa Fe diesel engines, now I can pull 10 passenger cars with the ABA set of F-7's.

I have pulled forty [40] cars with one [1] Williams GP7/9.
