Title: Caboose Colors
Post by: srrl on December 10, 2009, 02:50:20 PM
I recently received the Large Scale Denver & Rio Grande Western #0505 Caboose and it has a large number of chips in the paint, especially around the turnbuckles and queen post. I am interested in finding out what the best paint match (brand and color) will be to touch these area up. I think the original color of this car is oxide red.

Thanks for any help.

Dear SRRL,
Try Floquil caboose red.
Have fun!

Hi there,

as the Bach-man said: Caboose Red from Floquil/Polly Scale or Boxcar Red (F414281); best check it out as Caboose Red could be a bit too light. Would suggest, you try on a hidden spot first.

They do have D&RGW Freight Car Red which should be a perfect match:(F414258);

I do have a big RGS Caboose here, even when I´m no big scale Model RR guy, I gotta have one of these beauties for my coming RGS K-27... Have checked this for painting the wheel discs in a matching color, this should fit!

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

if the parts are  supposed to be iron parts, don't worry about matching--use Floquil "Rail Brown" as rust.  Handrails should be white.  gj
