Another suggestion. I own two of these DCC w/sound. If you are running DCC. try setting the speed  steps to 128.

HO / Re: DCC Headlight Question

Yes!

I figured it out. The EasyDCC system treats any locomotive address above 99 as an extended address. I checked my table for CV 29 and decided to set it to 50. This allows me to program the loco to 122 and set the speed steps to 128. It also eliminates the analog capability which I found to be a problem with possible runaways, i.e. on a DCC system if the signal is lost for any reason the locomotive would default to analog and therefore receive the full 16-18 volts that the track maintains producing a full speed runaway. With CV 29 at 50 all is well and the light functions properly.

Thanks to all who replied.

I use EasyDCC. I programmed on the program track. It shouldn't matter which direction the loco was facing. I haven't changed CV29. specifically. I'm thinking it may have something to do with extended addressing over primary addressing but haven't run into that with previous locomotives . I also programmed 128 speed steps so it's not a matter of a system limitation.

HO / DCC Headlight Question
December 10, 2014, 11:41:32 AM
I have a new Baldwin 4-4-0 w/DCC& Sound. It runs perfectly out of the box on the default loco DCC address of 3. However when I program the loco to the new address of 122 the headlight will not function. Experimenting, I went back to the default address (3) and it works fine. I programmed the loco to an address of 22 and it also works fine (all sounds and headlight). I'm sure I'm missing something by going to a four digit address but WHAT? All the sounds work fine and the locomotive runs fine on 122, just no control of the headlight.

Same thing happened to me. I ask the same questions, finally sent it in and they replaced it with the 70T 3-truck Climax. I wish they were able to fix the 50T or have the parts. Maybe they will update the 50T construction and bring it back to the market.

If you are running on DCC....try CV11=0 that always works for me for this type of response.   ::)

If it does this over a switch, then the wheels may out of correct spacing and it is shorting on the frog.

You can also located these 1860-1890 passenger cars on E-Bay. Type in Bachmann passengers cars or 1860-1890 passenger cars.

The passenger cars are a old set of Bachmann 1860-1880 cars the I bought at a train show several years ago. Bachmann still sells them. I repainted a set and lettered them for ATSF.

I mounted Kadee couplers on them as well as Kadee wheelsets. Hope that helps.

Update:

The two that I bought run like a champ on DCC. The sound is great as is the slow speed.

Any jumping you see is not the locomotive but the the speed of the computer viewing the video.

Go for it if you haven;t already.....!

Just lat week I purchased two (2) of the 2-6-0 Alco Mogals wirh the Soundtraxx sound value DCC installed. I have run both and am EXTREMELY PLEASED with their performance. I know they will not pull a large consist, over 12 cars on my club's layout (http://www.lmra.org/Activity.aspx?pageid=50) but for my smaller home layout they are ideal. The sound is great but limited from the full decoder, bell, whistle (three choices), pump, and blowdown steam.

On EasyDCC the locomotives have a great low speed start and on 128 speed steps can come up to speed very realisticly. I plan on posting a video on YouTube in the next few weeks.

My favorite thing is that I got each of them for about the price of a full-up Tsunami decoder.

HO / Reissue Spectrum 4-6-0s???
January 15, 2013, 12:15:24 PM
Has Bachmann any plans for another run of the Spectrum HO-standard 4-6-0s high and low boiler with factory sound installed?
If so, is there a specific date?

I wound surely purchase a couple.

i had the same problem last your with my very limited run 2-truck Climax. I sent it in to be fixed and was told they could no longer fix them. They sent me the new 3-truck climax to take its place. Although it isn't the quaint small size of he 2-truck...to get a newly developed and engineered 3-truck for my $25.00 was sweet! I even just want out and bought a second one with sound. They run GREAT!

HO / Steam Tender Sound
January 11, 2013, 01:54:16 PM
Has Bachmann ever considered creating a line of Spectrum steam locomotive tenders with a Tsunami decoder and speaker already installed? I have several Spectrum locomotives that I purchased that could benefit from the great Tsunami sound and it would be very easy to switch out a plug-in tender.

I realize that you currently produce Tsunami decoder sound locomotives now so I can't invision it would be a big jump to create replacement "sound" tenders for 4-6-0s (high and low tender), 2-8-0s, etc.

HO / 2-Trcuk Climax
February 10, 2012, 02:21:39 PM
I have one of the 2-truck Climax locomotives. I hadn't run it a about four years until the other day. It appears that the side rods operate but the gearing to the trucks isn't working. I know from reading the forum that those locomotives had a design problem.

My question is this, is Bachmann now repairing the old 2-truck Climax locos now that they have a 3-truck available if I return it? I really like the small compact size of the 2-truck and it goes well with my mining layout.
