Title: Another 44 tonner question
Post by: dlgillen on May 22, 2008, 12:03:16 PM
I have found some info about adding the dcc decoder to the dc ready 44 tonner. If I m using the bachmann decoder do I still need to remove c1 & c2? Also are there any other wires to the motors I need to isolate?

Thanks

I will remove the capacitors on the board when I put a decoder inside my 44 ton. Here is a little info on DCC install.

You need to remove the capacitors only when you use a silent decoder.  Bachmann's decoders are not silent.  So you don't have to remove them but you can if you want to.

I had problems with MRC decoders- the loco took off at full speed uncontrolably until I cut the capacitors.

The loco is a Bachmann, stick a Bachmann decoder in and run it.  :D
