I would advise you to call Bachmann support at 215-744-1600, "Bridgett" can get you to the right person.

However, there are several sound experts here that will probably be in to help you.

Dear blsky,
The GP-40 has a circuit board with DCC built in, not a replaceable decoder. Therefore, sound would be a challenge to add. It might be doable, but we do not have an addd-on sound system.
Have fun!

Hi;

A sound decoder will cost two to three times what you paid for the model, plus another $50 to $100 for installation if you do not do it your self.

Estimating your knowledge based on your question; I strongly recommend you purchase a sound equipped locomotive instead of trying to modify your present model.  It will be much much less expensive.
