Title: Any one know where I can find this Chuggington part?
Post by: brenjt on December 10, 2020, 11:40:52 AM
I bought my little boy a Chuggington train engine 2 years ago. When he was pulling it out of the packaging at Grandma's and it fell on the floor and a few pieces came out. We thought we gathered all pieces up but noticed we were missing one when we got home. I have searched high and low for the piece over the past two years and Bachmann finally responded to me saying they no longer carry it. My boy has never been able to use his train and he asks me all the time if I've found it so he can put it together.

Does anyone know where I can get this part?

This is the part in question

I could make you one if I knew a bit more about the dimensions. It looks to be 12mm long?

That would be amazing! Let me see if I can't get a blueprint or pictures and measurements of the part. I have one on the other wheels of the train.

Have you checked the NWSL drive shaft kits? There may be one that will let you build a replacement drive shaft.

There's a scientific principle that applies here.  As soon as the generous soul makes your replacement piece, grandma will find the original .

I'll check in here to see if you can get measurements. Or you can PM me too.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I'm trying to get my hands on a good caliper so I can get accurate measurements.

Check Micro mark for a dial caliper. I bought a plastic fiber glass one back in the 1970's and built a few gear boxes using NWSL Metric stuff. No problem.
I still have it. I am a retired Industrial Mechanic.

The cheap Harbor Freight calipers work fine for this purpose.

I asked on another forum for some measurements too but no one has spoken up yet.

The parts listing shows the length as 12mm. You could copy the image into a picture editor and scale it to a 12mm length, then measure the other dimesnsions directly off the picture.

Okay I got a caliper and measured the drive shaft from my other Chuggington train engine. Hopefully I labeled everything well enough. Thank you again. Please PM me what the label & shipping cost will be ;D

Here is a link to a diagram I made

I got the diagram and even was smart enough to print it out. Will make one today, Lord willing.
