runway? are you crazy? the thing lands on a railways :D :D :D :D
i wonder if there are many clearance issues since obviously if its taking off and theres a double stack trajin on the otheer track......
United Pacific... cool.
I would also expect to see a string of container cars with wings coupled behind the DDFJ40AX.
Ive never been too impressed with the airplane-trains..
(there are several of them out there)
pretty lame IMO..and the photoshop work is very poorly done.
just my opinion.

And Mickey Mouse is a poor representation of an actual mouse, but we all love him anyway.
Personally, HOplasserem80c, I got a good laugh out of it.
Well, no one, viewing that 'photo' can say that UP isn't working to be a very 'progessive' and 'inovative' railroad!
I'm joining Jim in having a 'good laugh' ... we don't get enough of those these days.

If i's honoring the Wright Brothers, shouldn't it be a 4-6-0 from C&O, B&O, ACL, or SAL?
Gene
I thought it was pretty cool.
Reminded me of Back To The Future.
Looks like UP's tired of awkward delays on their route.
Amen to the laugh! lol
Good one "HO", lets see some more of your talent

"HO" didnt make it..he just found it out on the internet.
which is why I said "..and the photoshop work is very poorly done."
because I knew it wasnt his personal work! ;)
he also hotlinked it into this thread..very bad.
and from the webpage of a LAWFIRM too! :o
Lawyers probably dont take kindly to having money stolen from them.

Scot
good cause it's the truth
and i don't care what you think anyway (id)
It looks like an EMD/Boeing model DD40X747.
Who care's, it's FUNNY!!!!! Maybe the B-man could be talked in to doin one.... :) :) :)
the UP always has gone big, now they're just going to the next type of transportation. They did have that jet-turbine loco, now they just added wings.
Bump!!! Just a blast from the past!

Actually it's a prototype, designed to wipe out the "mooners" by the fence in California each July.
Yes, I hear it's being developed by Amtrak to eradicate the Californian's "National Moon Amtrak Day" sometime in July. I forget the exact date.
The next "showing" is July 11, 2009. I can't post the link here, do a search. I hear next year the passengers will have their revenge. (think Paintball guns) :D
I think the airtrains are hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. How about a 747 on rails?
Watch out - the UP may want royalties on the picture.
What the heck, I'll do it right... UP6920, Check Wheels Down, Wind 210 at 20, Track 21 right, cleared to ahhh..land????
Air traffic control humor.....
Bob, I couldn't find a 747, but will this do? There is a flock of them critters

Unfortunately, they said something about it crashing? Or something?
That's funny, thanks for sharing.

Actually, pretty good! The Pan Am lettering would have been great on the UP loco. Now about combining a C-119 with a PS-1 to produce a true "Flying Boxcar"?
Reminds me of one that one of our group in Monterey did--a "gag" boxcar showed up once too often at an operating session. Host threw it across the garage. I rescued it and one of the others combined it with nose, wings, and tail of an F-14--presented it as an award at our Christmas party--securely attached to a full-sized tie plate to prevent further flights. gj
