HO / Bachmann Motor or motor parts
May 16, 2020, 04:31:43 PM
I have a Bachmann F8 (?). It has problems with brushes and springs in the motor. The motor is a dual shaft type no brass flywheel with plastic U joints mounted on each end. How do Identify this motor?

Hello,

I have an older Bachmann locomotive purchased used. There were no couplers on it  For a while I stuck a Life Like Coupler on it which seemed to fit but came in contact with the truck on curves, so I chopped it down and itb worked for a while. Well now that is Gone. I susect the crap job I did of putting it together made it fall off.

I would like to get both the front and rear couplers complete. These look very much like the Tyco/Life Like type couplers with a plastic protruding pivot point. They are not mounted with a screw in any way. but pretty sure I am missing a cover that must snap over the coupler box too.

If you will repond to this and tell me about Kadees or Knuckle couplers please do so on your own thread, not here. I want the horn hook on this.

I am making and modifying some boxcars.

As I presently live in Mexico parts are expensive and difficult to find here.

I was reading that some people say for instance that Kadee couplers do not fit into Bachmann pockets unless the coupler is ground down. Then I saw a video on Youtube installing a Kadee coupler into a Bachmann pocket with no filing or grinding. There seems to be conflicting info on this.

In one instance I need a single Horn Hook coupler on a European car as a transition car. I may switch to Kadee or at least that type of coupler at a later time and want to be able to use a Kadee coupler in the same pocket later.

Also I am making some boxcars out of wood and in one case I have a very old boxcar kit from like 1950s .

I am worried if I put the Kadee pockets on them that the Bachmann horn hooks may be too short to fill out the pocket (reverse of problem earlier) and flop around vertically.

I see the Bachmann horn hook couplers for sale everywhere but where can I find the pockets? I need to be able to get a reliable soultion to mexico as I will pay internationsl shipping and importation.

Thanks

Mark
