Thomas & Friends / Re: chuggington flat car

I've also noticed that flat car and thought it would fit well.

Alas, when I've looked around online, there aren't many out there.

I sold an non running Edward and a Henry to a Robert in Scotland via eBay a few months back.

If it's you, glad they went to good use. I bought new ones! All your work looks great.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, as they say.

Yes I am really pleased about HO coaches. And yes, 'Arry and Bert are coming so it's not like there is NOTHING to open in 2014.

But... would have loved to have seen a Large Scale Edward (Or any Large Scale Thomas loco for that matter...) join the already fantastic range. And maybe a mail coach too! Partly because by 2016 (which is likely when the next items will be out) I will be far too close to 30 for comfort and still buying Thomas  :-\

So Bachmann, how about a surprise later on in the year..? It's happened before.

Please!

Thomas & Friends / Re: BACHMANN TO DO RESIN BUILDINGS
January 29, 2014, 02:23:55 AM
The warehouse does indeed look very cool.

The signal box looks exactly the same, however the Maithwaite platforms seem to be in more sections than the Hornby model. The building may be from the same mould. Hornby are probably selling off their tooling now they are no longer producing Thomas stuff.

Just hoping that this means that these and the late arrival of 'Arry and Bart aren't the 2014 line up - Come on Bachmann, get a couple of new HO and at least one new Large Scale engine out this year please.

Yes it's odd from a business perspective that a line directed at children isn't a priority for completion by the Christmas period.

I know last year here in the UK Emily arrived last minute and my local store did nothing but ship them out until mail deadline. There's still hope...

It would just be nice to have something I really want rather than a wagon and the money for when he's here (which chances are I'll end up wasting on something else!)

Anyway thanks Chaz, hope you're well and have a great Christmas!

Thomas & Friends / Santa's starting to worry...

Is large scale Toby coming out before Christmas?

Otherwise Santa wants to know what I want instead. The elves must be having difficulties this year.

Thanks

I'd like to see in Large Scale:

Edward (I think Diesel also has a chance)

Henrietta
Mail Coach
Red Open Wagon

I hope one day Gordon and Henry are also made... There's no hope of them negotiating a first radius curve, but I wouldn't want their size to be compromised.

In HO I'd like to see:

Rosie (Though I think Charlie has a strong chance)
Red Coach and Red Brake Coach

I'm happy with my Hornby Oliver and Toad, I'd rather add something new to my collection. Also, whilst this maybe unpopular, if I was in charge of HIT, to make more money I'd recommend Bachmann produce a character that appeals to the target demographic. The majority of fans aren't posting on here or SIF, therefore I doubt how well Oliver and Toad are now known to the younger mass of Thomas fans. Rosie currently features instead of Emily in a lot of the girls' merchandise for Thomas. She has made numerous (albeit mostly cameo) roles in the show to date. Plus I'd like another female engine in the mix. Character exposure is key to success of selling these toys!

I honestly think Duck wouldn't have been given the green light if his return had not been anticipated.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Thomas/Large Scale

Sorry for bringing up an old topic... but I had some progress I wanted to share.

I finally got around to buying some figurines and decided on using the "HO" conductors as a driver and fireman, initially in Large Scale Thomas and James and I think the results are good!

For Thomas, I removed the legs by simply twisting them out of the body section and glued them inside his cab. For James, I only removed the green base, but I had to file down the pegs on the feet that slot into this bit.

Percy's cab is much more shallow than Thomas' so I will have to be a little more inventive, possibly sawing the men in half somehow! :-\ Likewise Emily has little in the way of a cab floor, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Anyway, some pics...

Large / Re: Stuttering...

Thanks Smcgill for taking the time out to reply.

Indeed, a little cleaning has done the trick... Quite surprising how much black came off the track and the wheels!

I just used a clean, dry dish cloth... Ongoing, do I need to use anything more sophisticated?

Large / Stuttering...
August 06, 2013, 04:46:48 PM
Just looking for a little advice, from people who know what they are talking about... rather than fans of Thomas!

My Percy and Thomas models have started stuttering/stalling at low speeds. I'm not having this problem with Emily or James.

They are only used occasionally, though they are usually on display (though kept free of dust!)

Is this likely a lubrication or cleanliness issue? Or a motor/controller/power problem?

Thomas & Friends / Thomas/Large Scale
December 26, 2012, 04:31:21 AM
After receiving Large Scale Thomas bits for Crimbo, I have a couple of questions...

1. Do the "HO" Thomas figurines look more to scale with the large scale Thomas engines? I want to buy a few conductor figures to place in the cab as a driver and fireman, The Fat Controller and Farmer McColl on fixed to a station etc. Will this work... Or are they still too large?

2. The track that the sets come with has limitations, ie indoor use only and one radius of curve so limited expansion. Will the power connecting clip fix onto other brangs of G scale track, for example LGB, or will I have to buy a different brand of controller and power clip?

Thanks and Merry Xmas!

Thomas & Friends / Re: 2013 Predictions Thread
July 12, 2012, 05:36:47 AM
Logically, I'd presume that Rosie, Whiff, Charlie or 'Arry and Bert will be produced next, due to their regular appearances in the show and in particular Rosie's strong marketing presence in other Thomas merchandise.

I'm perfectly happy with the Hornby Stepney, Oliver and Toad I have, so would feel it a little bit of a waste if Bachmann announced these.

I'd definitely like to see more than one model produced for HO next year.

I'd predict Toby or Diesel for large scale.

If I was a betting man (Or a HIT executive making a business decision) I'd say Rosie and Diesel will probably be made for 2011... though I would love Duck.

Hey Chaz, good to see you too... and thank you Bach-man.

Has anyone successfully removed Bill or Ben's face yet..? I've tried but it seems more secure than the other characters!
