Title: Coupler Help Please-Diesel
Post by: SWARTWOUT on July 26, 2007, 10:02:43 AM
Can anyone out there tell me what magne-matic couplers I can use on a Bachmann diesel and where to buy them?  Right now I'm dealing with a Dash 8-40C machine.

Thanks in advance.

You can use the 1015 coupler which is available just about at any train store. I prefer to buy my stuff from Brooklyn Locomotive Works (http://www.blwnscale.com) or MB Klein (http://www.modeltrainstuff.com) both of which, IMO, offer excellent service and good prices.
Be aware that the 1015 will sit too far back and interfere with the truck if you use the original screw holes. You can either drill and tap a new hole or you can be a lazy person like me and CAREFULLY ACC the coupler in place...

Which B-mann diesel is it?  Years back, MT 1133/1134 used to be almost universal on B-mann offerings, but over the years there have been some changes.

If the conversion chart on MT's website is back up, check there.

OK!  Thanks.  For one loco, I found an old MT with a hole in the right place.  It's NOT a 1015.  For my 2nd Bachmann, I found another MT (?) which I rtv's in place.  I believe RTV better than ACC becajuse it gives you all kinds of time to jockey the coupler exactly where you want it.
