Did you check your Motor Mounts where the motor sits into the Loco's chassis...
Check all Wiring make sure nothing is wired wrong...
Is the Motor & power trucks properly Lubed...
Check for any "RUBBING" issues IE Flywheels rubbing against body...

I had a problem last year with an OLD PA-1 Loco I have I thought is was the motor... But turned out "under close inspection of all the loco's parts" My Power Trucks needed to be swapped out for a new pair... SLOVED the Problem right away....

So you will have to look @ everything... Hope this helps you...

Have you thought about using FLEX TRACK in your layout plans.... FLEX Track might help you with your issues

Might be the case, do you know how to remove the shell?
I have an Acela set... NO there are NO on-off switches on the cars the lights get there power from the wheels & transmit the current to the light bulbs inside the car... On my layout the passenger cars are Fairly Lit "but this is with my accent lighting on the layout on" If I run my Acela with my overhead 4ft work lights on you will not see the Lights inside the Car's "however I only use my Work lights when doing scenery or maintance" Also I find the LOCO's Headlights to be on the Low Lit Quality side... I am searching for better lighting bulbs for inside the car's & Locos headlights... I already replaced the Headlight Bulbs once already with a new headlight & wire harness.... It's in the Bachmann Store if wondering.... Any other questions feel free to contact me... Hope this helps you out...

Are you sure the Speaker is fitting in the body correctly.... Maybe its not sitting in the shell of the Loco right... I know Dumb question... That might have something to do with it....

You can also use steam generator equipped RS-2s and RS-3s on passenger service.  The D&H, for example, used RS-2s or RS-3s on the "Montrealer" before they acquired the PAs.

Cheers

The ALCO long nose cab unit designed for passenger service was the PA. There two basic models, the PA-1 with 2,000hp and the PA-2 with 2,250hp.

The shorter nose ALCO cab unit designed for freight service was the FA. Again ther were two basic models, the FA-1 and FA-2. Some later model FA-2's were lengthed so a steam generator could be added, and were redesignated as FPA-2's.

Both the PA and FA had a square grill around the headlight, which is the easiest way to tell an ALCO from an EMD cab unit.

Thanks Len I need the PA-1 AlCO for my Passenger train.... Going to run the ALCO RS-3 & F-7 A for my Freight...

I got a Bachmann CN RS3 and a NYC GP7 both withh DCC and I'm wondering how many cars they can pull on a level surface.   I'm pulling about 10 each now and was just curious what they are rated at.  tnx

You should be able to pull 25-30 cars NO PROBLEM with those 2 Locos on the level.....

@ jim I don't think you will have luck finding your part I looked on the Part's page as well as len did & found nothing of sort... I would say you might be forced to buy a hole new crossing setup... Might be your only option...

Hi Len,
Thanks for the explanation!
I can't do around the wall as there is a window and 2 closets we need access to.
So I want to center the table in the middle of the room.
thanks
Bill

Just a question Can you use your basement or attic for a layout... If space in a room with limited space already is present a basement or attic can afford more room & allow you to build a bigger layout instead of just a 4x8 sheet of plywood.... I used my the entire Back Wall of my Basement "IE I had to stop 4 foot short & leave space for my Heating Unit or I would of went the extra 4ft to build my Layout.... My layout is 17ft long x 6ft wide 2 Track Main / With 3 Track Interchange & with a small Passenger siding Track with terminal / & a 9 Track Yard is my layout & in the middle of 2 1/2 Build on my Layout so far Looking to be complete with it by Feb or March of this year... Good Luck with your Build
