N / Re: How quiet is your 2-8-0?

Hi ramarkn

In my experience, Bachmann does not compare to Kato when it comes to silent quiet running.
Steam or Diesel.
I have 2 Bachmann Diesels and 10 Bachmann Steamers.
None are what I would consider quiet.

Sometimes it's quicker just to google search than it is to fish through my tons of saved links.  :-\

General Discussion / Re: PANNE INFRAROUGE SUR EZ-COMMAND
September 02, 2020, 11:26:06 AM
Translated;

Hello,
I'm out of infrared on my EZ-COMMAND DYNAMIS.
The screen displays all feature icons except the infrared level at the top right of the screen.
No orders pass to the locomotives, I put new batteries but nothing.....
If someone has managed to fix this problem, I would like help...
Thanks in advance

Agreed, but... those were upgrades that Bachmann already had the shell molds for, from previous runs.
Probably not cost effective to make new tooling for the shell.
The Hudson is all new tooling. So... anybody's guess.

Can't say for sure, but the Berk, 10 wheeler, K4, J, and EM1 all have metal shells.
I hope it's safe to assume (it never is) that Bachmann would stay the course and continue with a metal shell on the Hudson release. I have not yet put eyes or hands on one.
The ad mentions "die-cast chassis" but makes no mention of the shell.

What kind of roundhouse has stalls too short for small engines like consolidations?

Perhaps one designed and built by Germans, in Germany, for German prototype Steam locomotives?
I don't guess that thought crossed your mind before you posted?

QuoteSomeone needs to count how many times this engine has been offered in model form.  Around as much as the K4? To someone not from the northeast, they both are overcooked steaks.

Obviously you're not an N scaler.
This will be only the fourth time this model has been released in plastic, since the very beginning of N scale itself.
Twice in the sixties, once in the nineties.

The K4 only once back in the seventies.
Bachmann's release was the second time for a K4 since the beginning.

So how is it you feel they are both overcooked?
What is your criteria?
A least some of us feel they both were long overdue.

I have always wondered about "Dinah". When I was a kid and we learned that song in school, the only Dinah I knew about was Dinah Shore. I didn't think she played a horn but I knew she sang about Chevy's and seeing the USA. I never gave it that much thought back then. Now I wonder about Dinah

If you read the lyrics all your questions will be answered.
You may not have been taught all the verses.  ;)

Well now I am confused... ???

Are you narrating, speculating, or just waging in general on the film?  :-\
You apparently see things I don't see.

46 stars would not have been seen on the American flag until after July 4 1908.
Oklahoma came in November 16 1907 as #46, star was added July 4 1908.  ???

The Sarnia Tunnel part of that film was made in 1903, flag would have been at 45 stars in that year.  ::)

Third track was added to Horseshoe curve in 1898, the fourth 2 years later in 1900 when the film was made.
I count 4 tracks in the clip.

No need to heat the iron up.
Just cut one.
