Generally, I remove the brush caps slowly and keep the springs from flying away.
Pull out the spring(s) and tap and dump the brushs.
Degrease the brush holders
Load new brush(s),
Load new or existing, spring(s).
Replace brush caps.

It's that easy.
Good luck

Not a moderator here, no better than anyone else. :'(
Just say'n
Bachmann created this forum so the end users of Bachmann products could network between themselves.
They are sometimes tolerant of members posting about other manufactures product, and understandably so, sometimes not so much,
Especially, if it has nothing to do with Bachmann product.
I would suggest posting your "Lifelike" question on a more "N" scale specific forum, where questions about all manufacturers N scale product are more welcome. (Not manufacturer sponsored sites).
You will surley get more replies.
Your post borders on the edge of delete.
Don't ask me how I know.
Good luck
Maybe see you around.

Your calipers (forget the gauge) will put an end to internet ga ga.
I'm N scale, don't have any B'mann HO wheelsets to inspect.
Terry asks if they are (NMRA) compliant, the answer is either yes or no, not almost or mostly.
Let's see facts, not assumption, or speculation.
One of you HO's can measure.
Post what you find for all of us.

Call Bachmann service.
I think that's your best option.
They may have some from exchanges.
Failing that, try eBay for a donor.

Turnouts are likely power routing.
Makes a difference where you are feeding power into the layout.

For ya'all still looking for original Bachmann jewel cases and inserts, I think your best chance is eBay or a Train Show as has already been mentioned.

If Bachmann wanted to stock them, they surely would have by now.

Good luck

N / Re: N EZ Track gauge problem?

Haven't bought any EZ Track in well over a decade.
IIRC, never had a problem with it back then, other than turnouts.

Return it.

Dunno what that is.
Need more information.

If a locomotive is sold as DCC ready will it run on a DC lay out ?

It should if unmodified.
DCC ready still means different things to different manufactures.
Some provide a plug.
Some a different plug with more pins
Some have provisions to solder directly to the PCB, after removing the jumper plugs.
To others, it means only that the motor has been isolated.

What manufacturer's lokie(s) are you asking about?

Various jewel cases and inserts are available if you don't mind them made by another manufacturer.
Bachmann lokies and rolling stock fit just fine.
