...There's a price tag from Toys rUs and I'm guessing it was purchased between 1990-1998...

Wouldn't it be cool to find quality Large Scale Trains at TrU nowadays!

is the battery in correctly +/- on "right side"?

did you turn the switch on the bottom of tender, and adjust the volume with the switch?

I believe the train has to be moving for the sound to operate (chuff)

this may help?

Large / On-Line Manuals
December 14, 2009, 01:22:32 PM
Merry Christmas Bach-Man!

was thinking over the weekend how nice it would be to have the Big Hauler Manual posted here on the site for those who may have needs or questions.  Looks like there were at least 2 request for some "manual" help since Friday.

I appreciate the Diagrams in the Reference guide, and believe the manual to at least the BH would be a nice addition.

should have mentioned those above forums are free to read and participate, and are "monitored" 24/7 by many of us train nuts...a "good" answer should be found there much quicker than here on the Bmann fora over the weekend!

;D

open the front door under the smoke stack, there are some switches (door should be hled locked by oversized "bolt", flip those around and see what happens?  (sorry I can't give specifics on switches, I removed mine for battery power)...the 9 v battery goes into "Coal car=tender behind the locomotive) at rear on top behind coal, under little flip open door, it's for the sound!

this site may or not help you!

Call it whatever scale you like!

I agree Bill, this thing should be a HIT (excuse the pun).

No surprise they are already listed on Ebay (for more than most mail retailers are selling)...Amazon too-Ouch!

Bach-man will any effort be made to introduce this set to stores like Toys r us, Target, or etc...?  Or will it remain the LHS job to carry?  I remember the glossy magazine ads from LGB that I thought would always looked swell in the Southern Living or Family Fun magazine...

again, Bmann, Nice Job!

edit follows....got into it, really easy!

Here are some photos....Stealthily I rushed up the stairs, un boxed, removed some screws and took a couple of pics

Yeah, this is all the ele involved!

side view from right rear corner, Motor, Heat-sink, gear/eye mech

looking down under the motor into the bottom end

From front right corner looking back, eye/gear mech

Room for stuff, oh joy!

side view with body removed...

birds eye of guts....top end

Drive Gear on Center, Blind Driver...

Complete Drive Shot...

All 3 axles have at least 1/4" to 3/8" side-play..1100 compatible!

there you go, gotta get back to the kids!  the pics can speak for themselves.

Nice and Simple, Thanks Bachmann!

QuoteEnjoyed the review of the product on LSOL  !

Thanks Doug.  Seven days from delivery to publication of the review.  LSOL does try to bring Team LSOL members information in a timely manner.  And they don't guess what's inside; they look.

Choices...

For near $40 one could pay to be on a Team (1/5 the purchase price with shipping of set in question)...

...or toss the extra required bucks with that and order their own Thomas starter set,  be running it in less than 7 days, and enjoying the free to read fourms.

...opening it up themselves would be optional.  I guess I'll get around to that soon enough-
