Make sure that the decoder you get has the 645 turbo prime mover sound. That is typical for that Locomotive.

All the newer mobile decoders have settings to make Mars light effects. I like soundtraxx decoder personally.

Just make sure it is small enough to fit into the tender.

Good luck.  ;D

The Econami decoder came today so I swapped it for the MRC and boy what a different
Runs real good at slow speed and it had a high pitched whistle that sound good for the little guy.
I don't have a camera or camcorder with sound so I can't post a video of it running. Need to invest in one I guess.
Thats it for now.
Happy Railroading.

I have Thomas all wired up for the sound decoder, just waiting for it to get here.
I wll be installing the new Soundtraxx Ecosunami steam version.
And using a zimo speaker. I tested the hookup with a NCE decoder and the lights and motor control works fine.

Hey everyone,
I'm starting a little fun Project. I bought a Thomas Ho locomotive...(everyone has one right?). LOL
Well I'm going to install a steam sound decoder into it. I think it will have room for a small decoder and speaker.
And I will install led's for front and rear lights. Just something to do to breakup the normal Railroading stuff.
Thats it, Later (Oh I did post this in the Ho section thought it would be better to post it here.)

HO / Update on my Layout
June 20, 2015, 10:31:44 AM
Well today is a nasty rainy day so I decided to work on my layout. On one end I am building a tunnel mountain section.
I have the tunnel made but before I can put the roof on the tunnels I needed to put up a facia along that end of the layout.
I cut out the facia and cutout a access panel so I will be able to get to derailment if I have any and clean the track.
I have painted it and waiting for the paint to dry so I can mount it onto the layout. Once that is up I can put the roof on the tunnels. Then I can start to build the mountain on top of the tunnels.
Thats if for now I will post pic soon.

Happy Railroading!!!    :)

Its been awhile since I posted an update so here it is.

I have started to build my tunnel mountain on the layout. I have the walls built and I need to cut out a piece of Hardboard for the facia and cut an excess hole so I will be able to get into the tunnel if something derails. I put skirting on for the end of the layout 4' section that the tunnel will be on so I can get it mounted then I can put the roof on the tunnels. I started to weather and ballast the track around the tunnel area. I guess that is where I'm starting the scenery at....lol. Doing a lot of stuff outside so not doing much to the layout. I have about a dozen Diesel locos rebuilt all with sound. I have one more to do then I'll be done with that for awhile. Bought a drill press holder for my dremel with a xy slide vise so now I can mill and not just drill with it.
Got a new soldering station temp control with digital read out. works very well. Thats about it.

Happy railroading, later.

Post a picture of it if you can. You should have 2 wires coming from the front truck and 2 wires coming from the rear truck and two wires for the motor.

Update:

Got the painting done. ;D

I had an issue with one of my switches for my turnouts. Everytime I threw the switch for one particular turnout into the diversion route it would short out the whole layout..(Not Good  >:() So I checked all the wiring and found no problems with it.
I then pulled the turnout from the layout that that switch was using and checked all the wires on the underside of it. Again found nothing wrong. I then started looking at the insulated rails on the turnout itself. I noticed that one of the rails looked like it was contacting a rail where it shouldn't be. So I made the gaps a little bigger on all the break points on the turnout.
I reinstalled it and hookup up all the wires and tested it. and the short was gone.  Just another day of model railroading... ;)
Oh it was a Bachmann E-Z track turnout.
