Thank You very much, you are a life saver - your instructions worked!  Gad you can't imagine how dirty everything was.  Thank you again!

Does anyone know how to remove the trucks from the GP40.  This is the version that the top half of the frame can be removed to expose the drive train and motor - I need to get in and clean the wheel pickups and chassis pickups.

Chuck,

I just bought these couplers recently at a hobby shop.  They are serial numbers 78503 for the short shank, and 78502 for the medium shank.  They are E-Z Mate Mark II magnetically operated knuckle couplers.  John

Brokemoto,

Thank you for your reply, my problem is that I have a pot full of Bachmann 502 & 503 couplers, I was hoping to use those, and was looking to see what problems I would run into with them.

Has anyone replaced the Rapido couplers with the Bachmann E-Z Mate knuckle couplers? If so did you use the 502 or 503 versions?

Dose anyone know of a source for 2-8-0 Connecting Rod Screws, the online parts listing doesn't reference any?  Any help will be appreciated, even a size will help.

onzeroad,

You can find the old time coaches on Ebay all the time, I bought 4, and didn't pay more than $10 each (plus shipping)

I also agree, I think any of the geared locomotives would be popular in N Scale - Ken716  I would enjoy seeing a photo of your scratch built Climax!

Loco Bill,

Thank you for your kind response.  I bought it several years ago and it has only been run to lube it, and make sure all was in working order - I have it on display in my den - I just like it's looks.

Jay,

There was a company that advertised in the out of print Finescale Railroader magazine that sold Timken bearings for about $.25 each.  I installed them in Accucraft, Bachmann, Aristcraft and USA trucks.  They were lube free, 1/4" in diameter and with the exception of Accucraft they we very easy to install.  The cars have been running now for over 8 years and no problems, roll as good as the day they were installed.

If your interested send me a message and I'll dig out my old magazines for the phone number and address.
