Lowe's sells 4X4 and I think even 2X4 pieces of plywood. I assume other large home supply stores do to.
Your layout looks great and in a very short time. I have been planning a new layout approx 8X20 for the past 3 years but have yet to settle on a final track plan. I think I need to tear down the existing layout 5X14 and start  a new one in order to be able to run trains. By the way I'm also a B&O man. -John West

HO / Re: New MEC 2-8-2 Steamer Not so fast

I have two 2-8-2's and they both run a little on the slow side as Jonathan said. I just received the new 4-6-2. It runs a little faster and I think the sound is better than the 2-8-2. The sound seems to have more bass, probably a better speaker.   John West

No adlake marker lights? Should be no trouble to add those while doing the interior. I've added those to several of my cabooses and they make a bigger impact than interior lights. I had to place some tissue paper over my interior LED to soften and diffuse the light.   -John West

Did you search ebay? I made some of these work for a Walthers car. Search passenger car steps HO in toys and hobbies

Why not call the service department first. Maybe they can provide an easy fix over phone. You could also send the car only to the service dept. for repair or exchange. Might be cheaper than returning the complete set.   - John West

Excellent weathering, What do you use, powders? I use powders but they don't seem to be as detailed as yours. Do you use any kind of fixitive or just leave them exposed? I leave mine exposed so I can change them or remove them.

HO / Re: DCC Steam Loco 2-8-2
July 24, 2016, 05:19:05 PM
About a month ago I sent a 2-8-2 in due to a noisy vibration. It came back without the noise but with missing and damaged parts. I related my experience on this thread and it was deleted by the Bachmann and advised to call Laura Harris. I did and Ms Harris was on vacation. I was transferred to Rodney. He was not to interested in hearing in detail my complaint but he told me they would make it right. Long story short, I sent it back and received it back a week later. It appears they replaced the loco with a new one.
Thanks to the service department.
My only gripe is I had to spend an extra $18 bucks on postage to get an engine that works correctly.
I'm guessing this post will also be deleted as well but the moral to this story is Bachmann did ultimately correct the issues.

I had this same problem. I bent the wipers as well and thought I had the issue fixed. It helped but still had the problem. Ran the engine back and forth over the frogs (atlas #6) and discovered the wheel axles were tight in the frames and did not allow any vertical movement. Snapped the wheels out of the frames and drilled a slightly larger hole, very slight,  for the axles. I don't have the drill size, away from home for a few days. I also took a round file and slightly elongated the hole. Now she runs over every frog at speed 1. -John West

Here is the Sprog website. Click on BUY NOW to see a list of dealers. I bought Sprog II for $98 + tax.

JMRI doesn't care what DCC system you are using. I use a Sprog interface on an isolated program track. It reads what decoder you have and all CV factory settings. After you make program changes you save those to your computer in the form of a loco roster. You can print them out and even reprogram your loco  if your settings are lost. This is all done in simple english. No computor program skills required. I have a roster of 18 locos and this system has made programing simple and fast.  -John West
