Another large engine?

Yes

Later this year you will get a G scale "James the Red Engine" from the Thomas line, thats the ONLY confirmed new LS item for 2010, everything else is just intrigue. :o

Vic,

Good points, no arguement.  But what I was trying to get to was that 20.3 NG is 3 ft gauge and correspondingly there is 20.3 std ga.  Both U.S.

Gauge 3 is std ga for 22.5 meter gauge (on 45 mm track).

Barry

Standard gauge on 45mm is Gauge 1, at 1/32 scale where Gauge 3 is larger 1/22.5 scale standard gauge but its on 63.5mm or 2-1/2 inch gauge track, its wide track, actually wider than American 3 rail tinplate "Standard Gauge" which is 2-1/4 inch gauge. The only reason I know all this is that I have been very interested in Gauge 3 since my Thomas "Percy" arrived. It really is a good candidate for conversion to Gauge 3 due to its size.  ;D

Gauge 3 has been dead for a few years, but seemingly replaced by 20.3 Std Ga.  2.75" ga.

Also 7/8N2, much alive and very interesting (on 45mm ga.).

!/24 scale on 45mm is 42" gauge, currently alive and well in Oz (Aust.).

Hi Barry, actually Gauge 3 is alive and well ... in Britain, almost entirely live steam but then Gauge 3 almost exclusively always has been

Actually Thomas and Percy would be good candidates for gauge 3 conversion

Sorry but I have neither, both Percy and Thomas faces/eyes were bartered away right after I got them

Hi, my Percy was straight eyed out of the box, as for Thomas I think it was too, but I bartered away his face before I got the unit home  :o

Follow the above advice, all you need to do is realign the eye stalks into the guide sockets, the faceplate does come off very easily by pressing on the sides of the faceplate

The track from Bachmann is stamped steel and is intended for indoor use only, it will rust to nothing outdoors very fast. For outdoor use you will need brass track minimum, stainless steel if you have a trust fund.

LGB, Piko, Aristo, USA, Llagas Creek, Sunset and I'm sure I'm missing a few others all make brass code 332 track thats combinable, Llagas and Sunset also make code 225 track and track in aluminum for RC/battery operation.

Another vote for a brake van, Jack are you listening? ;)

OK - It's one new tank car and a the existing troublesome truck with a NEW coal load.

Dont get me wrong Jack, not griping, any new items are welcome, just defining whats being released so I know what projects to put on my "To Do" list, while waiting for the tanker and with other cars being new versions of the trucks I'll have to retro an LGB Boxcar from US 20' car back to stock LGB Toytrain Boxcar and then to British Profile goods van (or as near as I can get). Modify 2 Troublesome Trucks into flatcars, 2 TTs into covered goods wagons, and maybe one into a cattle van. So dont worry. looks like you'll be selling me a few more TTs in the coming months  ;)

OK so in reality its:
ONE new tank car with 2 different paint jobs
and NO NEW CAR but a repaint of the exisitng Troublesome Truck
for the Coal and Cargo cars
Just so were clear

These cabs can be modified but its a bit of a bash to do so, the inside has to be cut away and a new backhead placed.

Thomas as is

After

Percy after cutting out cab area, you can see how much high the plastic is

no problems with mine, but then I did "modify" it somewhat  :o

Not because I was having any problems mind you, I just wanted something a little more WW2ish era, these as is are great for Late Victorian/Early Edwarian era ;)
