Title: dunkirk steam engine
Post by: ForThemPanzerz on October 29, 2011, 12:33:46 AM
another geared engine that not many of us have heard about... it looks like a cross between a shay heisler and climax. the reason many of you probably haven't heard of it is because only about 50 were ever made. here is a link to what they looked like and some background info on it

this would be a great new spectrum on30 locomotive to go along with their small and odd engine collection

There is a kit for a vertical boiler class A Dunkirk available from one of the small scale On30 manufacturers. I suspect that, if Bachmann did want to make another type of geared locomotive, a Class A Climax or a different Shay would be more likely than a Dunkirk as these are better known. My own choice would be a Class A Climax, but I doubt that another geared loco is likely for quite a while with the Heisler coming out.

The Dunkirk Class B is my favorite engine of all time.  I would pay thousands, well maybe hundreds, for one of those.
