Title: Bachmann 1363
Post by: dwbum on September 24, 2013, 10:50:35 AM
I purchased a Bachmann 2-6-0 Loco DCC ready earlier this year and am in the process of converting my layout to DCC. What decoder is needed to convert the Loco to DCC and how is it installed? Can sound be added?

The instructions sre on the document U got with the loco. I just looked.
Use a TCS decoder and plug it in for a non sound install. Get the decoder with the plug attached.

For sound, look at the below link.

To be able to plug in the sound decoder, look at the below link. He explains how to do this, very clearly. Click on SoundTraxx Tsunami.

Take your time as I figure U are new to DCC. Don't make assumptions when it comes to DCC.
The speaker is a 28mm round. Pretty much standard for a lot of HO locos.

Some people will suggest hard wiring but if no soldering experience, it can be a challenge. A few people do not like the Bachmann PC boards as the LED resistor has a higher resistance value than many use.
Not a problem with me as I just paralleled a resistor across the LED resistor in  a couple installs some years ago.
