:DGREETINGS!! ???Have you contacted BACHMANN concerning the problem? If the engine is presently, or will be in stock, perhaps they can replace it... possibly even free! (Since it would be real good PR on this board where BACHMANN has suffered a lot of -maybe undeserved- bashing!! :-[
How about it, Mr. B? :o    (If it is in stock, the most it will cost to repair/replace it will be $15.00!!)
                                                                                     THANX!!

:DGREETINGS!! ???This thread leaves one rather STUMPED!! :oWHY would one say, "Over there" by the garage, when it would suffice to say only, "By the garage"? ;DAlso, why would they be "At the house", when no one's home? Lastly, how does one know "that's their car"? Have you checked the registration?
We really need to be careful that what is posted on this forum is not or cannot be considered as "hate mail"! As long as the point is understood, what does it matter if "grammAr" is mispelled, or if "was" must become "were" after "if"?
We are all, to a point, challenged in some way; some in grammar, some in spelling, some in just plain LOVE for his fellow-, in this case, RAILROADER!
Let's all just thank BACHMANN and the powers that be that we even have this forum to come to and have so many of our "problems" with our railroad discussed, and even solved without having to do all the trial and error that someone else has already suffered through! :'(
It kind of reminds me of the days that I spent on the road... DAILY, someone would come over the CB (radio) with, "Can't we all just get along?" :o
Well, guess I'll go back into hibernation, now, since most of you, it would seem from past posts, don't seem to care whether I live or even have a railroad, much less post my thoughts on YOUR forum!
THANX, MR. B, for allowing us to keep and enjoy this forum IN SPITE of some!! ;)
                                                                                     THANX!!

:DGREETINGS!!   And THANX!!, Guys, but what I'm trying to do is not necessarily a "reverse loop", but somehow laying my tracks in a configuration that would allow several trains to be run at the same, and going in different directions.  ::)
I'm sure it can be done, though it might be a wiring problem! It would just be boring to have the trains all going arond a loop all the time!!
:oI just haven't seen them, with the exception of a (1) reverse loop on a set. I'm trying to fix a layout that would allow any train to continue his run in the same direction, on any track. ???

HO / HELP!!
June 02, 2009, 10:31:07 PM
;)GREETINGS, ALL!! ???Once upon a time, several weeks ago, Iade a comment in another thread concerning the fact that I don't see layouts that would allow that trains might go the opposite direction on the same track, and I never got back to read the reply :-\; now, I can't find the thread!! >:(
:oSO... Can a layout be made, and would it be practical to allow a train to go east or west on the same track?
                                                                                           THANX!!

Call Bachmann Service.  They usually have them on hand.  Last year they were 5.00 each.

;DGREETINGS!! ???Do you mean $5. bucks for a CAR?? Does that include SHIPPING?? :oWOW!! ::)What could I do on EBAY????

;DGREETINGS!! Ray, I looked at the Berkshire site, and the cost, and it left me wondering why simple sewing thread, at a fraction of the cost, could not be used!! ??? It comes in various sizes, some comes unbreakable, various colors, and looks very realistic!! :o
;) It can also resemble chains to secure a load on a flatbed!! ::)

;DGREETINGS!! PDLETHBRIDGE!! Your layout is  almost identical to mine!! :o The main difference is that I plan to insert some switches that would make it such that the trains would not always go the same direction on a given track! ::) Plus, I've not decided yet where to put my turntable.( On the 4x8, or on the 2x10 somewhere, or maybe on the 4x6??) ???

General Discussion / Re: Shelf Sanity
May 18, 2009, 02:02:40 PM
:DGREETINGS, ALL!! ???JIM, why does an "around the wall" layout require a "duck-under" or a "lift-out"?
My (planned) ;) layout consists of a 4x8 with the 4 end butting into a 2x10 "shelf" which connects it to another 2x4 that butts up to a 4x6. The way all this connects, there is a 2' aisle between the 4x8 and 4x6. The entire layout is against 2 walls, but it might as well be against 3, because the 3rd is a couch in our family room! The area where the 2x10 and 2x4 meet provides for a bit larger space at the end of the aisle.
:oI'm thinking of putting a scene on a lift-out or duck-under at the aisle for a "burning building", but that is not required. If I do that, it will be a seperate entity, such that I can remove it and take it to show to friends. It will be completely operational seperate from the layout. ;D
                                                                                          THANX!!

Here in Alabama it's rain, rain, rain. Luckily our shack is located on a hill - or I would be considering an ark. Hmmm, a foam layout that is solar powered would mean you could still operate your trains while floating around the neighborhood...something for the sharp engineers, in Huntsville, to consider.

Since the layout is 12 volts, just plug it in to one of those portable battery packs that supply 12 volts, and there you are!! :o
:DYou can set it up wherever you want, or you can FLOAT it wherever you want!! ::)

;DGREETINGS!! ;)Years ago, I had the old TYCO TRAIN/RACE CAR SET!! :o I rewired one of the race car lanes, such that the cars would move in opposite directions, as on a highway!  ???Wonder what I ever did with that old set??
::)I've thought of doing it again, but I doubt that I will!! :-[

:DGREETINGS!! ???One major question that I have is: Why does MODEL RAILROADER seemingly PUNISH their subscribers by charging them $42.95 to renew, while charging new subscribers only $32.95?? :o

;)GREETINGS!! ???What is all this hype about "OLD STOCK"?? :oTHAT is what I am running, when I can run it!! :-\I'm still trying to get my layout up and running, but most of my stuff is TYCO, AHM, BACHMANN, and LIFE-LIKE!!
::)All is DC, and the closest that I have gotten to a "remote control" is the old LIFE-LIKE set-up that you hook to your track, and a hand-held gizmo lets you go forward (3 speeds), backward, or stop. It also has the diesel horn button that you can use, but the sound comes out of the station that the power is coming from!
:PWith over a hundred engines, I don't see a conversion to DCC at all, and I'm really wondering if I want to go to ALL THE TROUBLE AND EXPENSE of converting my COUPLERS!!
;)No, when I do get everything up and running, it will not be very prototypical, but it will be fun.
:DSmoking engines, burning buildings (2), lots of sirens and other noisemakers that I have gotten out of toys gotten at GOODWILL and other "JUNK STORES"!! I've even got (somewhere) the sound of a guy taking a shower- it was originally in a toy duck!!- that I'm going to put in my "TRUCKSTOP"!! ::)
:oYup!! It'll be fun, noisy, but NOT prototypical!! :P
