To Zug :  How much electrical skill do you have ?   You may have a loose and / or a broken wire in the base of the switch . You can test for this with a Multi-meter .  John2 .

To Trainman 203 : Don't feel bad about drivers in your area not knowing how to deal with snow . I live near Chicago where it snows significantly & often most years , we have the same problem with drivers .   People think that AWD will save their butts from doing really dumb stuff . Physics  does Not change for anybody ,  you have to be aware of the environment and other drivers .   Your insurance company  will  explain the expensive results of inattention for reality.

To Dutchbuilder :  Nice work I did see the painted pictures further down  in your #23 reply John2

To Jonathon :  I remember those  old shows as well some were pretty entertaining at the time .  Some of the shows from the Fifties & Sixties had amazingly stilted dialog  , but that comes from growing older I guess .  Though the films from the Thirties & Forties were much better in that respect , must have been aimed  for an old audience . Grew up in Chicago ,  had plenty of trains in the area and rode the CTA  elevated .  I remember the storage yards of scrapped cars near the Chicago River near Halstead and Chicago Avenues .   Worked for Pyle National  Company from  1972 to 1992  and inspected  & tested a lot of  Railroad connectors and assembled cables .   We manufactured a considerable number of lines of equipment Lights ,  MU cables & Equipment  , and also  Line of Head end Cables Parts. We had a good number of former railroad members in the company  some of whom  were also  model railroad collectors . Went to the Illinois railroad Museum down the road in Union       and noted all the different connector lines  that were used  in railroad cars .  John2.

Hate to say it , I am a late starter when it came to electric trains .  I was telling a friend that I had a deprived Childhood in that  I never had an electric train as a youth . My sister heard this and decided she finally had some kind of thing she could get me for a gift . I have all kinds of hobbies but these require considerable  knowledge of the requirements  of the hobby . My first  Trains was a Bachmann   Harry Potter  train set .  I now have a good many trains & related equipment  , but still have not got around to building a layout . Hopefully that time will come about  . John 2.

to Wounded Bear :     Every country north of Panama  is part of  North America .   Since he bought the train from "Rails of Sheffield " I made the assumption that he was  dealing with a  supplier in Canada  who deals in British  type trains since  Canada uses the same type of electrical power   60 Hz  , 120  Vac. .Though  I do use Google  Chrome  I normally use AOL . as my search engine .    Since the gentleman was getting no response  from the forum I suggested he look at Bachmann's  British equipment.   John2.

Lurcher 1 :   This forum  usually deals with North American  equipment .   I suspect you are going to have to  look in Bachmanns  British Equipment website for  information  .  I assume you are dealing with Canadian equipment .  John2.

To Modern Trainfan  : If you are going to want  N -scale structure  kits  you are going to have to  Check out the  Walthers website .  They  have Kits in the scale you are working in.   Bachmann  also does not make assembled  structure in HO scale .   Nobody does everything , it is not cost effective , but the hobby  does have alternatives available .   J2.

To dutchbuilder :  the Overland Limited  is a DC  system & therefore  has no decoder .   I am curious as how he managed to get  25 volts of power into a system that should not have been able to do so . I actually own the Overland Limited Set .  Though you may be correct about the short circuit , I would also check out the functionality of the controller to see if it can operate  any other  DC  locomotive .  J2.
