March 29, 2009, 11:29:33 PM
I saw on another forum where MTH video showing MTH's 4-12-2 is running buyers off.  It will run on 22R, but it looks really bad doing it.

HO / The changing time.
March 03, 2009, 08:48:15 PM
Just a little note to all our customers,

Bowser has discontinued HO steam locos, turntables, Standard gauge and O gauge replacement wheel production.

We will continue to make our HO diesel locomotives, HO freight car, N freight cars, HO trolleys, Cal Scale, Selley and Cary detail parts

We have plans for many new products but, they do not include any steam locos in any scale.

Steam loco parts are still available but when our supply is exhausted I do not plan to restock.

Thank You for all your interest over the years.

Lee English, President
~Randy~

Sorry to see them go.

HO / wire to motor
February 01, 2009, 05:48:19 PM
I have a replacement motor for one of my 2-8-0s.  I was getting ready to replace it today. I
noticed there is a red dote by one of the posts.  I just wonder if the red wire should go to that
post.  It is not wired that way.

Williams by Bachmann / knob on tender
December 18, 2008, 10:01:54 PM
I moved this over here for 50z0s   or was it 5ozos.  I'm new to this board and new to "O" guage trains.  I bought a Williams (I think 464) engine and tender.   In the back of the engine is a knob that can be turned.  What does that knob do?  Sorry to be so ignorant, but I am, lol.

I was looking at the new Model Railroader that can in the mail today.  The price of every thing keeps going up and up.  I just wonder what the limit is.

General Discussion / new brakes
January 28, 2008, 09:08:31 PM
Some time back there was a post about how air brakes work. This may be a great improvement.  FORT WORTH, Texas - A BNSF coal train equipped with electronically controlled pneumatic brakes departed Wyoming's Powder River Basin coal fields bound for Southern Co.'s power plant near Birmingham, Ala. BNSF has tested the equipment on intermodal and iron ore trains in the past.

Electronically controlled pneumatic brakes use an electronic signal to cause all brakes in the train to apply simultaneously. With standard air brakes, the brakes on the first cars in the train apply before the cars behind them, causing slack action. New

General Discussion / ebay
December 06, 2007, 02:55:36 PM
I was just looking at some things on Ebay.  You know right off that the seller does not know much about what  they are selling when they call a cow and calf unit "locomotive and tender" and, "Build your own box cars, wheels and cuplinks not included"  You can have fun on Ebay.

General Discussion / tank trainer
October 10, 2007, 12:44:26 PM
I saw somethink interesting today.  It was a tank car and box car.  The tank car had 10 or 11 hatches on the top.  It has a door in the
side and it may also a lot of different fitting for unloading.  I think it was marked GATX Tank
Trainer.  The box car had a door and two windows on each side. I think it was used as a power
car and class room.  I would say that it is going around to all users of tank cars.  The tank car is
painted green and the box car was bright red.  It looked like it was just out of the paint shop.  I
first saw it four blacks away and thought it must be from someone model layout.

Some time back someone asked about plastic glue.  One of the replies said to buy a product at a home supply store.  That it was the same thing only much cheaper.  Any one remember what it was.  thanks

General Discussion / wooden rails maybe
June 09, 2007, 11:47:56 PM
I was just reading a report of a KCS derailment.  An official working at the accident scene Monday said he believes the train
derailed because a metal rail broke under the weight of the train. Kane said
I wonder what he thought rails were made out of.

General Discussion / Paul M"s T&P
June 09, 2007, 10:41:07 PM
This has nothing to do with Paul, but seeing his T&P logo reminded me of when I was in boot camp at Great Lakes N T C.  North Shore and CN&W ran right next to the base. This was not yesterday, this was in March and April 1952.  Every week day about 4 pm a two car (open platform) N B train would go by pull by a 4-4-2.  One of the men in our company was a fireman for the T&P.  He said boy I sure would like to be firering that.   I said I don't know, that is a hand fired coal burner. As the train goes by the fireman  is at work put more coal to the fire.  He did not know that they used coal.  Well all of our locomotives burn oil.   I can tell you that that is much nicer than coal.  However today I would be happen to do it.
