Hi,
I have a DCC ready FTB... Will a DC FTA Shell swap on it?
-jm
What is the model manufacture? If it is a Steward, then yes they will swap. You have to handle the light for the A as there is no light in the B unit. There is a place for it though. Now, this is true for all the FTs that I have - 6 As and 6 Bs. It may not be true for models made in the years after I got these (late 90s).
I can't help you with the other makers... sorry.

Thanks Ho-Ron,
Sorry, for the delay... I should have been more clear in the post
I have:
1 Bachmann FTA with DCC
1 Bachmann FTB with DCC
If possible I would like to buy a Bachmann FTA DC and swap the shell with the FTB DCC
Then I would have:
2 Bachmann FTA with DCC
1 Bachmann FTB DC
Any information on this?

-jm,
I can't really help you here as I do not own any Bachmann FTs.
My best guess would be to check the B unit that you have and see if the lighting for the A unit can be dealt with. That to me would be the major issue.
As to why you would want a ABA consist that can't be run bothers me. Why a DC B-unit?? ::)

Yeah I could see how it could be a little strange :)
I already have a FTA(DCC) & FTB(DCC), But What I hope to end up with is:
FTA(DCC)+FTB(Non-Powered-DC motor removed)+FTB(Non-Powered-DC motor removed)+FTA(DCC)
Hope that clears it up

Keep an eye on ebay - lots of sales of broken sets go on there. I bought a GP38A and GP38B dummy - the GpP38A lasted a month. Now I have a retired train yard.
