Dear All,
BIG news!
Sir Topham Hatt has asked me to let you know that I have posted pictures of some new Large Scale items in the Photo Gallery.
Enjoy!
the Bach-man
You scared me back there Bach-man, don't know why. :P
Anyways regarding the pictures, they look great! The 'Someone to look up to' gave me a chuckle there. :P They look much better then the old Lionel ones they have made, the detail continues to amaze me. It's a shame I don't model G scale though so I won't be able to join in on the fun of collecting these models. Can't wait to see how they are going to be when they are done! Same goes for Thomas and Percy. :)
Wow, now these look stunning. Not only do they appear to look like near-scale models, they also look pretty prototypical too, and I wouldn't be suprised if a few are "Cut'n'shut" to make Gauge 1 items.
I was abit worried that we would end up with something like the Lionel range, but I was wrong.
I think I might have to look for that LGB set I had for the track and controller...
Dear Bachmann,
thank you for posting the pictures, they look amazing so far, can't wait to see the engines in large scale under construction. again thank you.
P.S. remember, no hurry for detail, tkae your time and we will be proud.
Fabulous. :D Now lets hope we can see Salty, and the Large Scale Thomas and Percy soon.
Lets all hope as well for updated models of Thomas, Percy and James. ;)
i looked at the details and i see that the hook might be big enough for chains to put on, not saying to replace the couplers, but with the chains we might be able to connect the trains without a problem. anyone doubt on that?
The neat thing about G Gauge is that you can add tons of more details due to the large size. Bach-Man, you guys pass out the good word for me, they did an incredible job, the comparison was a very nice touch. So, whose house was this at? ;D I'm kidding you don't have to answer that. You guys did a great job, and the captions were a nice touch as well.
Joshua
so far the look splendid! well done bachmann! ;D
That Mr. the Bach-man deserves a handshake. ;)
well done Mr. Bachmann, nice job indeed. once they come out, i am buying some small chains and see how they work with chain couplings. but all and all, nice job. :)
As James from MOAB T&F series would say, "Shut my mouth!" Those models are absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!! The detail is perfect. When I first saw them I thuoght they were the actual TV models stripped from their paint. You could probably pass them for the real models. Like Santa Fe Bluff said since the models are larger, much larger then the HO, you can add more details. I can't wait to see what Thomas and Percy will look like. I'm hoping they'll have extremely accurate faces, and I'm sure they will. I know they will deffinately have better detail than the HO. My God I'm gonna pee my pants I'm so excited!!! It's a good thing my mom and I are making a garden railroad this year (well we're not entirely sure yet). Again FANTASTIC models!!!!!!! :D

well duh you cant leave bachmann large scale track outside. he'll probably use brass track.
my advice for brass track is to look around for decent prices. i'v seen packs of 20 cuves for as high as - i think- $130(?) . there is one website that has cheep track for - i beleive it was - 80(?)-100(?). i forget the web site. for agsact answers try to ask www.lsol.com
Yes, but do you know why?
Brass or Nickel Silver Rail will work fine. Nickel silver usually has better conductivity, but in any case you should solder jumper wires between joints. Aluminum Rail is cheapest but does not conduct very well.

Hi
Please tell me one of the extras supplied with the locomotive is going to be a proper English smoke box door (and some other details) that can be fitted instead of the face.
I am a fan of the real Thomas not the modern #### and hope it will be the Proper Rev Awdry locomotive which means no face not the unreal TV one.
Please don't mould the faces in the rolling stock so they can be painted out
by English large scale fans the stock looks like it could be convincing UK
stock if it hasn't got the faces
regards John
I hate being Captain Obvious, but they had faces in the books too. Also, it's going to be the TV style. That's a GIVEN.

I hate to say this but the 1934 or was it 38 stories which I had copies of, did not have faces they where proper locomotive as are all the Thomas characters.
Nor did the articles written by the great man on the S.I.R in the English model press
in fact it was these that got me interested in model trains in the first place.

Which he was just telling those stories to his son, so at the time wasn't even a "true" series.
Awdry also did small sketches before the illustrations for the book was made, and even then the engines had faces.
This is interesting
I wonder why the books I had never had the faces??
I know the railway built by the REV Awdery certainly did not have faces,
and where accurate models of the specific locomotives in all except colour

Do you have the books or remember what the titles were? Could you upload some pics?
True, Awdry's models did not have faces, but they weren't 100% accurate. His original Annie, Clarabel and Thomas were HO scale, and his model of Gordon (A Gresley A1) was made from a Tri-Ang/Rovex Princess.
The models Awdry had did give the names to at least one locomotive in the books.
When Awdry brought a Gaitey 57XX as a spare engine, many visitors commented on how it waddled like a Duck, hence where his name comes from ;)
WOW! Great! I Love these new Large Scale Bachmann Thomas models! ;) They look right out of the TV Series!

Well yes I just meant REALLY REALLY HEAVY!
I don't think she should weigh much more than James, almost definatly not more than the normal Bachmann Annie.
I'm just thinking she will be a little heavier than James because of her HUGE wheels.
I don't really think the wheels will add very much weight, may add some, but not a huge amount.
She will weigh much more than Annie, she has a motor.

If you did some research, you'd realise he was talking about the Large Scale Annie that Bachmann did long before the Thomas range.

Not everything revolves around Thomas.
Jack
Well as we are in Thomas forum, I assumed we were talking about Thomas, the post was not clear. I do not buy American models so I would not know about the Large Scale Annie.
Well, I said "normal Annie" for a reason. If I said "Thomas' Annie" or"T&F Annie", then I would be reffering to the character Annie.
And, it is meer comonsense that Emily would weigh more than Annie the coach :P
Exactly, :) I was just unaware of the engine, and coincidently it had the same name as a character in the large scale range we were talking about at the time.

We get that you want to see these characters, but theres no need to be posting the same thing in several topics, and making a whole new one along side that, truth be told, D10's claw would make him out of the loading gauge for the buildings bachmann has produced, so he has little to no chance, Lady, has been in 2 movies, once as a main character, then one in a dream for less then 5 minutes, so again, little to no chance. There are plenty more characters that have more of a chance, and that other people want to see, so please dont be so self-centered about these two.
I know :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Im about to delete that thread now :'(
Bachman does offer a DCC version, just not in thomas colors or with a face. Bachmann's Branch Line series of UK trains rivals some of the nicest USA prototype engines from Broadway ect. Cheers Mike
When are you going to put out the image of Troublesome Truck #4?
regarding the cc thomas: it is not that hard to put your own decoder in thomas. you just need a z scale decoder that is small enough to fit in his fuel bunker or cab. i did a pictorial on how to do this a couple years back in this very forum. search for "thomas gets a decoder"
oh great..i'm excited to see all of it ;) :) :D
could always take out that pesky eye mechanism and use a proper HO decoder too, I imagine ;)
drifting away from Bachmann's HO Thomas for a moment - Hornby (UK) have announced that they will be discontinuing their 00 scale range of Thomas trains - looking towards the future Bachmann may do more models in HO ?

Hello Thomas Fans I'm new to the Bachmann forum, user Terencethetractor525 subjected I should join and I figured that I'd give it a chance. P.S.
