Title: Atlas mp15 or Concor mp15
Post by: winjie on November 10, 2008, 10:22:49 AM
I see the Concor MP15 with decoder on a site for $80. I see the Atlas without a decoder for $60, which do you think is the better deal. Thanks.

Personally I would go with the Atlas engine & add my own decoder.  I have found that Atlas quality is worth a bit extra.  The cost would probably be very close if you purchase the decoder & the Atlas engine.  (Check Tony's Trains website for the correct one.)

I have run the Atlas MP15DC for about 3 years now - without the slightest trouble. This is a rugged, well made engine that negotiates tight radius curves and #4 turnouts with ease. Frankly, this has become my favorite diesel locomotive...and the sound is awesome!

Definitely Atlas. Compared to the Con-Cor they seem a bit lighter, but pull better, and have much better, crisper detail. They also have a superior drive.
