Title: Question re: "DCC Ready"
Post by: MikeO on August 21, 2015, 04:18:02 PM
Will a "DCC Ready" locomotive co-exist with my older straight DC locomotives?  I am a "mature" person and am sticking with the "old school" DC block control.  I am interested in acquiring a Bachmann locomotive that is listed as "DCC Ready".

It will work fine since a DCC ready locomotive does not have a DCC decoder.

DCC ready is short for 'DCC ready for a decoder to be installed.'

DCC Ready means the motor brushes are isolated from the power pickups and there is some means, a socket, solder pads, wires or something else, to accept the installation of a DCC decoder.
